Position

Brunel Pension Partnership Limited (Brunel) requires a Data Manager (DM).


This is an exciting time to join an Asset Owner with leading capabilities in Responsible Investment. Brunel is transforming its operating model by centralising data management, this is a key initiative, well supported across the business and a chance to be part of building a new team.


The Data Manger is a key team member, and will help operationalise our strategy, working closely with data owners in the business and third-party vendors who will provide the platforms, data sets and associated specialists.


The focus of the role will be on data governance, data controls and business partnering. Initially looking at investments data across a wide range of asset classes and working with third parties who typically provide platforms and assured data sets.


What you'll be doing:


  • Develop, implement, and oversee data governance, building the structure and processes that ensure the accuracy, availability, and consistency of Brunel data.
  • Support and implement the data strategy roadmap, through assessment, analysis and implementation of tools, systems, and platforms (e.g. an Enterprise Data Management solution).
  • Assist the development of a data management, support, and governance framework, defining and agreeing SLAs, overseeing the resolution of issues, and managing escalations.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships across the business and with third party data and platform providers
  • Act as business partner for key projects, ensuring data architecture requirements are embedded into the design of any solutions. To work with data owners and data operators to support them in their goals
  • Support the internal control environment by monitoring of controls relating to data governance and highlighting risks & opportunities
  • To support client reporting data provisions, including year-end audits

Requirements

  • Successful applicants will have experience in managing data but also have a shared passion to transform how data is managed, knowing this unlocks business capabilities
  • Experience of using and/or implementing data platforms, particularly the supply of data feeds for investments
  • Familiarity with data modelling, data management and data governance principles and practises
  • Experience in implementing and managing end to end, source to report, data reconciliations
  • Experience in Master Data Management, developing and overseeing the processes necessary to support data quality.
  • Familiarity with database structures and techniques for data extraction and analysis, such as SQL databases and queries
  • Substantial knowledge and experience of asset management data types and how data is used across an asset management organisation
  • A good understanding of performance calculations/investment analytics covering listed and private markets, including equities, bonds, fixed income, multi-asset, private equity, private debt, infrastructure and property
  • Working knowledge of investment performance platforms (such as Factset, Bloomberg) and familiarity with industry benchmark suppliers (such as FTSE, MSCI)
  • Familiarity with or interest in RI/ESG reporting practises and principles
