Position

Would you like a unique opportunity to work with benthic specialists in a company focussing on all areas of environmental consultancy? Are you passionate about marine surveys? If so, then we would be delighted to hear from you!


We have an opportunity for a Senior Marine Biologist to lead our survey team in Guildford. As part of our marine team you will be responsible for winning, co-ordinating and undertaking intertidal and subtidal marine and estuarine surveys. You will be involved in benthic faunal sample processing for a variety of exciting projects from both the UK and abroad and will be given the opportunity to improve your taxonomic identification skills by learning from world experts. You will run projects from initial enquiry through to project sign off. You will be expected to give guidance to junior members of the team and provide accurate reports to clients on time and to budget.

Requirements

The successful candidate must

· hold a degree in Marine Biology or related subject.

· have experience of co-ordinating and undertaking intertidal and subtidal benthic invertebrate surveys.

· have experience of accurate biological data recording and analysis of biological datasets using statistical packages such as Primer.

· experience of managing projects

· experience of bidding for work

· have the ability to work to the pressures of a commercial consultancy.

· be enthusiastic with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Ideally you will also have

· a master’s degree in marine biology or a related subject

· experience of co-ordinating or undertaking marine ecological impact assessments, and other studies such as Water Framework Directive assessments and Marine Conservation Zone assessments.

· co-ordinating and obtaining marine consents.

· experience of identification of benthic fauna.

· able to travel to Guildford occasionally.
