Position

How does your job as Breeder Squash at Rijk Zwaan?


You will be part of our Squash breeding team based in Spain in the station Bellavista, in El Ejido. The main goal is to develop squash varieties for many different market segments worldwide in close contact with the market specialists that are present in different parts of the world. As Breeder Squash you will be working on new traits, innovation concepts, disease resistances and fruit quality traits. In addition, you are involved in:


·Coordination of crop related processes: seed logistic, crossing, MAS, phenotyping and other administrative tasks.

·Improving processes

·Implementing last technology developments of the company

·Designing and evaluating variety trials around the world in our stations and with clients

·Taking part in strategical discussions about the breeding program

Requirements

What is your added value?

You are a real teamplayer. You are proactive, creative, flexible and solution oriented. You like to take initiative. You have eye for detail and are practical and pragmatic. You work in a structured manner and have excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills. Mastering the English language is a prerequisite. Next to this we can find the following on your CV:

  • A finished education on BSc or MSc level in the field of horticulture, agriculture, applied biology or plant breeding
  • Good level of English and Spanish languages
  • Previous experience in plant breeding is welcome
