Los Angeles is one of the most fabulous and eclectic cities in the world, and we believe that Big Bus can add a great new experience for visitors by utilising our expertise of providing tourists with a never before available experience and the perfect introduction to this world-famous city, helping them to discover and explore the wealth of things to do and places to see.

By expanding into Los Angeles, we are making this our 22nd city that we operate from. This is an exciting opportunity for you to create something very special as you will be part of the opening team and be involved in setting up the operation and infrastructure of the business.

Overall Purpose

This position is responsible for training/teaching applicants how to drive all company buses in a safe and professional manner. Planning, developing, and delivering safe and effective training to bus operators. Ensure drivers are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and district policy by developing, implementing and performing training, conducting certification classes and testing of all bus operators. Fulfil all responsibilities of a bus driver when required.

Key Areas of Accountability and Responsibility

  • Plan and implement training program for applications accepted for training
  • Retraining drivers when appropriate
  • Maintain records related to driver authorization
  • Maintain current information on Federal, State and local policies, procedures, rules and regulations governing commercial motor vehicle drivers
  • Conduct on the road driver evaluations and training 
  • Be able to multi-task

Requirements

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration laws, codes, rules, policies, related passenger Carriers.
  • Strong understanding and history of successful customer service and ability to establish and maintain effective relations with patrons and staff.

Skills

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communications.
  • Analytical ability and knowledge and skill in the use of office technology and office software
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Good work history, driving history, and positive annual evaluations  
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated skill at conflict resolution

Experience/Qualifications

  • High school diploma, completion of G.E.D., or equivalent
  • Incumbents must have two or more years of experience as a bus driver
  • Minimum of one year of experience operating Double Decker and right-hand-driven Double Decker buses.
  • Possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and Air brake endorsement
  • Possess a safe driving record

Full time: 40 hours per week (working on a rota that includes weekends)
