Awen Cultural Trust

Awen Cultural Trust is a registered charity based in Bridgend, South Wales. Our purpose

is to make people’s lives better, which we achieve by delivering inspirational cultural events, activities and programmes. Awen engages with over one million visitors a year through a diverse range of facilities and services which include theatres, libraries, community centres, historic house and country park, and two work-based projects for adults with learning and physical disabilities. Awen’s work has significant impact on local economies, individual wellbeing and community cohesion.


Awen Trading Limited

Awen Trading Limited is the wholly owned trading subsidiary of Awen Cultural Trust, a registered charity based in Bridgend, South Wales. Awen Trading Limited’s aim is to develop a group of socially responsible businesses that compete commercially, exceed customer expectations and generate healthy profits which, in turn, are gifted aided back to the parent charity. Currently, these businesses include the Caffi Bar at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl and Bryngarw House, an exclusive wedding venue based in the grounds of Bryngarw Country Park.

Position

You will be part of Awen’s library support team, working on key strategic projects and aiding the delivery of the Library Business Plan. You will work closely with the libraries’ Senior Management Team, providing resilience and admin support to the team. Your attention to detail, high level of accuracy and methodical working will be pivotal to the collation and analysis of key data; while your strong interpersonal skills will be vital when liaising with partners and working with new teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the delivery and monitoring of the Library Business Plan through implementing systems and/or processes, collating data and reporting on qualitative and quantitative results.
  • Leading on projects by co-ordinating timelines, organising workloads and resolving situations where appropriate.
  • Providing administrative support for the Library Operations & Innovation Manager.
  • Co-ordinating the completion of performance reports such as the Quarterly Summary.
  • Working with Library Managers to implement developments and change across the service.
  • Co-ordinating colleagues to provide supervisory and line management support to cover periods of absence within the management team.
  • Line Managing our team of Casual Library Assistants and timetabling their hours.

  • We are looking for an adaptable person who is motivated by ensuring projects and plans meet their objectives on time and on budget. (E)

  • You will have an eye for detail but also an awareness of the bigger picture.

  • You will demonstrate a commitment to effective communication and an ability to work proactively and enthusiastically with others; developing and sustaining professional working relationships based on mutual trust and respect.

  • You will have strong analytical skills to determine root causes and constantly seek creative but workable solutions to problems. (E)

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • You will have experience of implementing systems and/or processes

  • You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills (E)

  • You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent (E)

  • You will be able to work independently but also as part of a team, organise your own workload in order to meet deadlines and be willing to resolve situations where appropriate.

  • You will have previous experience of working with data (qualitative and quantitative).

  • You will have advanced Excel skills, ideally including experience of creating macros, pivot tables and data presentation in order to compile comprehensive reports (E)

  • You will have a proven ability to work accurately with figures and statistics

  • You will possess strong report-writing skills and be able to present ideas and solutions effectively to facilitate decision making (E)

  • Strong interpersonal skills are important as you will work across Awen’s libraries and within many teams, and you should be an enthusiastic communicator able to motivate others to act effectively

  • An ability to prioritise and complete multiple tasks to agreed timescales is essential (E)

  • You will have the ability to co-ordinate several programmes simultaneously and deliver them to a timetable and quality criteria

  • A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle are essential to carry out this role (E)

  • A qualification in project management or proven experience of a similar role is desirable
