Position

The Assistant Front of House Manager will support the Operations team at the Grand Pavilion and Awel Y Mor Community Centre.

Reporting to the Front of House Manager, you will be involved in every area of customer service at the theatre with a focus on delivering excellent customer experience from ticket sales through to front of house as well as promoting the venues commercial aims and objectives.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensuring the highest levels of customer service and ensuring the venues team provide at all times a safe, warm, friendly and vibrant environment for audiences, visitors and staff.
  • As part of a rota, duty management of the front of house areas including the Theatres’ public spaces, café, bars and meeting spaces.
  • Ensure that the venues assistants, volunteers and café staff on duty are fully briefed and can ensure effective promotion of opportunities and availability of information for customers.
  • Managing day to day administration duties, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Act as the primary ticketing support for group bookings and those requiring access support for their visit.
  • Take responsibility for private hire enquiries at Awel Y Mor Community Centre, providing information and using YesPlan (our event management system) accepting bookings, facilitating hirer requirements, ensuring contracts are in place for all hires.
  • Promote a safe and healthy working environment for user and staff by participating in staff training and initiatives.
  • Ensure high levels of housekeeping and presentation at all times both front and back of house, escalating any maintenance requirements to the Front of House Manager as necessary.
  • Deal efficiently with customer enquiries, compliments and complaints, escalating to the General Manager if necessary.
  • Through effective supervision, ensure that all financial procedures for front of house income, and the supervision of cash is carried out.
  • The post, as part of a team, will involve working evenings and weekends as needed.
  • The post will be a key holder and associated responsibilities as necessary.
  • Deputise for the Front of House Manager from time to time to ensure to ensure that communication and management of the venue is consistent and operated to the highest standards.

Hours:

37 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)

Salary:

£22,236 per annum (Salary subject to job evaluation)

Probationary period: New staff appointed to Awen will be subject to a 6-month probationary period.

Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally (E)
  • Experience of working in a front-line capacity in an arts, hospitality and/or leisure facility (E)
  • Experience of dealing with financial transactions and cash handling (E)
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and ICT skills including Microsoft Office (E)
  • Excellent numeracy and data handling skills (E)
  • Experience of using a CRM, sales or booking software in a hospitality or leisure setting
  • Previous experience of using theatre box office systems and setting up shows
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations for theatres and maintenance tasks
  • Formal industry qualification or ability to demonstrate competence through experience
  • Ability to work innovatively and creatively to initiate new developments
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for work purposes
