Company Description

ASL Aviation Holdings is a leading aviation services company based in Swords, Ireland, close to Dublin Airport. The ASL Aviation Holdings Group includes 5 wholly owned European airlines; ASL Airlines Ireland, ASL Airlines Belgium, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines and ASL Airlines United Kingdom. The Group also has airline operations in South Africa and Thailand. Additionally, the Group includes maintenance facilities and several leasing entities. ASL’s airlines operate under their own brands and operate passenger and cargo networks on behalf of major international customers, particularly in the express freight and postal sectors. The Group’s global operations serve over 65 countries.

The Global ASL fleet of 140 aircraft includes 17 aircraft types from the Boeing 747-400F to the ATR-72 turbo prob. The Group has confirmed 20 slots with Boeing for 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) aircraft. Delivery of these next-generation aircraft has started and will continue until 2023.

In 2020, despite the global disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, ASL’s airlines continued to operate with 80% global aircraft utilisation on average. The airlines operated more than 122,000 flight hours, carrying 810,000 tonnes of freight and 2,620,000 passengers.

While some of the group airlines were founded more than 40 and 50 years ago, ASL Aviation Holdings’ foundation essentially began in 1998 and the company has been profitable every year since its incorporation. Annual revenue now exceeds €1.1bn EUR.

Position

  • Maintain an overview of the owned and leased airframes and landing gears in the group fleet, in terms of maintenance status and strategic maintenance requirements, and create strategies to maximise their use while maintaining their asset values. Ensure the records of the owned and leased airframe and landing gear assets are maintained in good order so as to protect the asset values. Ensure all Back to Birth traceability of LLP's is to industry standard.
  • Maintain and optimise a Landing Gear requirement plan to ensure the timely provision of replacement gears to the group AOC's and the provision of Landing Gear MRO slots to minimise unserviceable off wing time. Ensure the plan achieves best value for money.
  • Maintain a base maintenance plan to ensure a minimum number of group aircraft are on base check at any one time and that the commercial team can minimise and optimise the use of third party hire-ins.
  • Co-ordinate the Landing Gear and base maintenance requirements with the Procurement team to ensure MRO slots are secured well in advance and at optimum pricing and that any GTA's and contracts are negotiated in good time.
  • Manage the budget for base maintenance checks and ensure the checks remain reasonably within the budgeted parameters.
  • Assist the Head of Asset Management in ensuring the Fleet Configuration Standard is maintained.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the team members providing regular performance feedback, in order to maximise business results, employees’ satisfaction and team productivity.
  • Maintain competence on the basis of continued education and training in their area of responsibility. The company will facilitate this process.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in engineering or similar, or a valid EASA Part 66 Licence or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable Regulatory Requirements (Part 145/Part CAMO) - desireable.
  • Familiar with tools such as AMOS, MS office, e-mail and project management tools
  • Fluent technical and conversational English (spoken and written) and local language
  • A minimum of 7 years experience, working with or within an MRO or in an aircraft engineering or CAMO organisation.
  • Experience of project management.
