ASL Aviation Holdings is a leading aviation services company based in Swords, Ireland, close to Dublin Airport. The ASL Aviation Holdings Group includes 4 wholly owned European airlines; ASL Airlines Ireland, ASL Airlines Belgium, ASL Airlines France and ASL Airlines Hungary. The Global ASL fleet of 130 aircraft includes 17 aircraft types including cargo aircraft with payloads from the B747-400’s 117 tonnes to the 4 tonnes of the turbo prop ATR 42-300. Passenger capacity is between 189 on the B737-800 to 72 on the ATR 72-500.

In 2019 ASL’s airlines operated 77,529 flights, equivalent to 212 flights per day or 8 per hour, 365 days of the year. The airlines carried 5,100,000 passengers and 700,000 tonnes of freight.

Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Technical Engineer supports the Engineering Manager in the assigned domain with either Powerplant-, Avionics-, Systems-, Structures-, Maintenance Program or Reliability expertise, with the technical review and the Continuing Airworthiness of the ASL aircraft in the fleet as to contribute to achieve sustainable and reliable levels of a on–time, safe and cost effective performances for the Operator and Customers.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Main tasks and responsibilities

Reliability Engineer:

  • Develop and maintain the Reliability Management Programs for the ASLB fleet.
  • Prepare Reliability Reports within the defined period and share results/measures in the Reliability Control Board meetings.
  • Review and analyze Maintenance Records (PIREPS, MAREPS, Non Routine Cards…) to identify failure trends
  • Make recommendations to improve the Aircraft Maintenance Program effectiveness that contribute to dispatch reliability, safety and cost efficiency of the ASLB fleet and operation
  • Liaise with OEM’s in order to obtain a better reliability of the aircraft components.
  • Liaise with Airlines/MRO/OEMs to enhance effectiveness and for innovation/developments

Maintenance Program/Reliability Engineer:

  • Support the Reliability Engineer to develop/maintain the Reliability Programs for the ASLB fleet.
  • Support the Maintenance Program Engineer to optimize/update the ASLB fleet Approved Maintenance Programs.
  • Review changes to manufacturers’ recommendations, regulatory requirements and their effect on the ASLB Maintenance Programs
  • Review/integrate the Reliability Control Board recommendations into the ASLB Maintenance Program
  • Create/update scheduled maintenance task cards

Technical Engineer Avionics and Technical Engineer Structures:

For the assigned ATA 100 chapters:

  • Identify, review, produce and follow-up of technical documentation related to Airworthiness Directives and Non-mandatory Modifications (SB, SL, STC, or Service docs) to ensure adequate planning and on-time accomplishment.
  • Make Modification/STC data available in order to ensure that aircraft documentation is amended accordingly.
  • Perform engineering analysis and define root-cause corrective actions for assigned occurrence reports.
  • Contribute to special/internal projects (eg: Aircraft phase in/phase out)
  • Contribute to fleet and reliability related maintenance activities
  • Provide technical support to other departments/MRO/Shop in resolving repeated defects and other technical issues
  • Avionics: Operational approvals (RVSM, CAT II/III, ETOPS…), Software Configuration Control, ACARS, FDM Configuration, Engineering Rep. during checks…
  • Structures: Repair and Dent and Buckle File management, Engineering rep. during checks…
  • Liaise with Airlines/MRO/OEMs to enhance effectiveness and for innovation/developments

Communication

  • Professional communication and develop relationships with other departments, subcontractors/Suppliers, OEM/MROs/other Airlines for an effective and efficient co-operation aiming to improve overall company performances.
  • To report timely, accurate and concise maintenance / modification planning highlights to all stakeholders internally and externally to make sure they all have the relevant information to achieve their objectives.
  • To liaise with Flight Operations, Chief pilots, Fleet Managers, Maintenance Control and contracted MRO’s to ensure a smooth aircraft positioning/input prior to with scheduled line/base maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor in engineering/aviation, or equivalent level by experience e.g. as ground engineer in base maintenance.
  • Experience in aircraft maintenance planning, part-M/145/21 requirements and with the specific aircraft type(s) is an asset.
  • Computer literate, MS Office with good administration skills.
  • Good command of the English language (written and spoken).
  • Ability to think, read/asorb and interest in the aviation industry technology/developments/innovations
  • Able to demonstrate accuracy, analytical skills, and eagerness to improve
  • Open minded, team player, developed communication skills with all levels in the Airline and with /Suppliers/MRO’s.
  • Ability to function successfully in a pressure environment.
  • Work in an organized way to be able to meet set deadlines.
  • Negotiation and convincing skills.

  • According a roster available for standby duties, for after office hours/during weekends to provide Engineering service support when required to the technical/maintenance operations and ensure the on-time availability of the aircraft.
