We are looking to recruit a temporary Subtitle Technical Quality Control Operative (QC) for a period of up to 3 months to work within our subtitling and dubbing production team that provides subtitling, captioning and dubbing services for our clients which include major Hollywood studios and global broadcasters.

Position

The Role

As a Technical QC you will join a growing busy team, helping to provide a quality service. In this role you will be responsible for the tracking, downloading, converting and quality control of all subtitle and Closed Caption streams. You’ll work collaboratively with other members of the Subtitle Team (US & UK) to ensure project requirements are met.

Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving, checking and preparing files supplied in various formats (EBU/STL, XML, RTF etc.) from our clients
  • Reviewing files over video backgrounds in the company’s subtitling software, ZOOsubs, checking for the following: Sync, Cue accuracy, Text corruption and content issues and Positioning of subtitles to avoid clashes with on-screen text.
  • Querying and/or correcting problems according to the guidelines and procedures established with various clients.
  • To track all subtitling workflow on a continual basis through the company’s project management system, to ensure work is completed according to schedule.

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

The position requires attention to detail, following strict guidelines, check lists and instructions, detail oriented and have ability to comprehend complex technical topics.

Any prior audio/video, quality control experience or exposure to working with multiple languages would be highly desirable. An understanding of video compression and the various codecs used by broadcasters and VOD platforms would be advantageous, but not essential
