Based in our El Segundo office, you’ll be a key member of our international IT team (UK&US) reporting into the Head of IT. You’ll be expected to take a good deal of initiative in the work that you do, along with managing a small team.

Position

As the Systems Administrator you’ll be responsible for successful operation and development of a complex network used by over 100 staff from several locations working on media workflows. You’ll be responsible for supporting the fibre SAN compromising multiple storage appliances to provide around 1PB of storage.

Along with overall responsibility for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Such infrastructure includes the following: Linux, Mac OSX, and Windows network nodes; HP and Palo Alto Networking equipment, VMware virtualisation and Storage Infrastructures such as Quantum, Netapp and Hitachi.

ZOO is part of the Trusted Partner Program (TPN) and the Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the building is physically secure, the network is configured in a secure manner, and that staff can operate securely in an efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Support time sensitive media workflows. Ensure that IT equipment is sufficiently available to allow for smooth operation of production department.
• Effective selection, provision, installation/configuration and operation of new infrastructure in response to business need.
• Commission new / repurpose existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Maintain system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.
• Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.
• Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential and secure.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Research and recommend innovative approaches.
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures as expected of a System Administrator.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
• A Bachelor (4-year) degree in computer science or related field
• 4+ years of System Administration experience
• Advanced knowledge of Network Hardware such as switches, router, and layer 7 firewalls, Network Maintenance and Performance tuning, and Network Applications.
• Extensive demonstrable experience with all Windows Server Applications and Linux/Unix Server configuration and operation.
• Demonstrable Knowledge of Fibre SANS, NAS, SCSI, iSCSI, SATA and other storage networking
• Professional Knowledge of Windows SMB File servers, Unix NFS file servers, and Mac OSX AFP file servers
• Professional knowledge of Virtualization such as VMWare, Hyper-VProfessional Knowledge of Network Monitoring servers; Nagios, MOM, Syslog.
• Professional Knowledge of Backup Servers such as Symantec Backup Exec, VDP

Any knowledge or experience in the below would be highly advantageous, but not essential;
• Previous experience working in Media & Entertainment Industry a plus
• Professional Knowledge of Security filtering such as Websense Web Security and Data Security
• Professional Knowledge of facility security systems
• Professional knowledge of phone systems such as Avaya, Mitel
• Working Knowledge of Post-Production software such as Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop
• Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Bash, Python, VBScript, Powershell)
• Professional Certifications (MCSE, CCNA ect)
