At the heart and soul of London since 1895 West Ham United is a dynamic, fan-focused football Club constantly moving forward but always with an eye on the past.

Our home at the London Stadium has a capacity of 62,500 making it one of the biggest club Stadia in the country however our tickets are the lowest priced for London based clubs in the Premier League, echoing objectives to create Affordable Family Football.

In 2018, our Women's team gained a professional status for the very first time, jumping 2 divisions and competed in the Women's Super League (WSL), the premier division of women's football in England. After finishing a respectable 7th, the team enjoyed particular success in the FA Cup reaching the final of the competition, eventually being beaten by 2017 winners Manchester City.

In April 2019, we opened our brand-new Academy facility based at Chadwell Heath which will help to bring through some of the very best talents in the area, the recent emergence of First Team Players Declan Rice and Ben Johnson are a testament to the work already being done at the Academy.

On the business side, we are continuing to create a Stadium our supporters can call home, with the renaming of the Billy Bonds Stand and Claret and Blue pitch surrounding amongst the latest developments. Additionally, the Club has achieved the Disability Confident Leader status.

The Club employees a constantly growing workforce of approximately 300 core staff and 500 Foundation and events staff, and is a truly unique place to work. We welcome talented individuals who will thrive in our ambitious organisation.

In October 2023, West Ham United was awarded the Advanced level of the Premier League Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Standard, recognising the Club’s ongoing dedication and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Targeted Intervention Sessional Coach

Summary-

The Intervention Mentor will deliver 80% and evaluate 20% all aspects of the Jigsaw programme and wider community sports programmes at the West Ham United Foundation. The candidate will demonstrate a passion and commitment to improving the lives of young people with that be through sport, employability or life skills sessions.

The candidate must have a passion for improving young people’s lives and the community they live within. They will plan and deliver 1-2-1 intervention sessions and group sessions making sure they are engaging and safe sessions. The candidate will deliver to young people with varying needs and challenges for example, hard to reach young people, who would be on the cusp of falling out of education or involved in criminal activity and working in diverse environments. The Mentor will assist the completion of monitoring requirements including attendance registers, goals and surveys. You will ensure sessions are safe and suitable for all participants involved, and you will have the responsibility of supervising and supporting participants, making sure protocols are always followed.

Main responsibilities

•Take responsibility for the delivery of the Jigsaw and MyEnds Programme and further Youth and Community projects in line with West Ham United Foundation’s high-quality standards and framework

•Deliver the highest possible quality of 1-2-1 and group sessions, to a wealth of participants with varying needs and demands, in a variety of different environments.

•Ensure appropriate planning is conducted prior to each session that is delivered, with considerations being made for individuals’ needs and requirements

•Complete risk assessments, report incidents/ accidents using the appropriate systems.

•When required, provide cover and assistance for other Mentoring/coaching staff across all boroughs/areas that the Foundation operates. This may include working during evenings and weekends as required.

•Assist the completion of the necessary monitoring requirements efficiently including attendance registers, surveys and participant data capture alongside logging such data within monitoring systems such as salesforce/CPOMS.

•Positively promote the Clubs/Foundations Equal Opportunities Policy and core values in all aspects of the post’s responsibilities and duties.

•Always promote a positive and professional image including appearance and punctuality

•Maintain a commitment to CPD in line with Senior Management expectations this is to include attending performance reviews and training as requested

•Deliver to the standards expected regarding coaching, health and safety and child protection and in accordance with the Foundation’s /Club’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

After contacting and taking guidance from the Safeguarding Team, staff must use the Club’s Child Protection Online Management System (CPOMS) to record the concern within 24 hours unless directed otherwise.
