Offered in partnership with content providers and a national telecom operator, 3-2-1 is serving millions of people monthly across Africa and Asia with quality life-improving information to support their families.
Viamo’s global SaaS platform for mobile engagement enables thousands of organizations to share information and gather feedback from the citizens they serve in the most challenging environments. Usage of the platform grew by over 10X in the past year, while we've added new countries, new channels, and new features.
We are building new capabilities for the platform – while maintaining reliability, usability, and scalability. In this role, you will be a key part of engineering the next-generation platform, improving its scalability and adding two major new feature areas. Collaborating with the Infrastructure Chapter Lead, you will be responsible for professional-grade software engineering of backend and infrastructure components, while supporting your team to grow through knowledge sharing and mentorship.
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and expertise on choosing database architectures
Experience with design for horizontal scalability, STONITH client/server architectures, and message queueing systems
Fluency in PHP (Laravel 5) and Go is a great asset
Knowledge of Freeswitch Telephony stack and Plivo Telephony API is a plus
Knowledge of RabbitMQ is an asset
Good Linux scripting and server management skills
Ability to quickly understand new code, technologies and concepts
Suggest and implement revisions to the core Viamo architecture for reliability and horizontal scalability
Contribute to team processes and learning so that the engineering team meets its goal every Sprint of becoming a smarter, more productive, healthier team
Take a lead/expert role in areas of our platform
Take occasional technical support shifts
Help build monitoring and instrumentation to ensure problems are detected proactively
Help develop modular internal/external APIs needed by Viamo platform web application code
Help improve database performance of Viamo platform
