Position

The primary purpose of this role is to support the design development phase of a new PCE technology range. The Senior Design Engineer will have relevant experience in design and qualification of a range of pressure control equipment to adequately support concept design, detailed design, manufacture and qualification testing.

The purpose of the role will also involve supporting the engineering department via direct involvement in:

  • Provide specialist expertise in pressure-controlled equipment.
  • Creation, development and delivery of Unity Technology;
  • Design and review of new and existing Unity products;
  • Activities to verify equipment designs in accordance with procedures and industry standards;
  • Supporting the Engineering team in meeting the ongoing requirements of the business;

Reporting progress directly to Engineering Supervisor.

Requirements

The primary requirements are as shown below:

  • Degree qualified in relevant field (Mechanical Engineering).
  • Demonstratable experience in working in the oil and gas industry on design development and qualification of new technologies. Minimum 7 years’ experience.
  • Demonstratable Engineering experience in mechanical, hydraulic-mechanical equipment.
  • Extensive Engineering experience in well intervention pressure control equipment design, manufacture and qualification testing.
  • Experience working to and good understanding of API 6A, API 16A, API 16ST and NACE MR0175
  • Experience working to and good understanding of NORSOK standards D-001, D-002, D-010
  • Experience with material and coating selection in equipment design.
  • Experience with BoP Control Systems.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing techniques suitable for BoP manufacture
  • An understanding of relevant EU directives, codes and standards applicable for design, manufacture and test of BoP and Well Intervention valve assemblies
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise conflicting workloads and work to deadlines.
  • Good team player with sound interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD modelling and drafting systems (Solidworks)
  • High level of mathematical capability to perform and verify design calculations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in operational aspects of well intervention procedures is preferred.
