Position

A Radiographer at UK Biobank is responsible for capturing high quality images according to our protocols for the Imaging Enhancement Study. They provide a key role in ensuring that the centre operates safely and efficiently.

The Radiographer will also be responsible for ensuring any ‘incidental findings’ of a potentially serious nature, observed during routine scanning, are reported in accordance with UK Biobank’s policy.

We are now looking to expand our team of qualified Radiographers to play a key role in the biggest research study of its kind ever undertaken. We are passionate about the development of our employees and offer clear routes of progression including an incremental pay structure, with extensive training programmes within the following modalities: brain, cardiac and abdominal MRI (including fMRI, Dexa and Ultrasound).

For Senior and Superintendent level positions you will be a confident leader with the ability to make key decisions and manage a small team effectively. We are happy to hear from Graduates or 3rd year students and for the right candidates we can accommodate elective placements.   

Requirements

  • HCPC Registration 
  • BSc or Diploma in Radiography.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible attitude to duties High professional standards
  • Knowledge of IR(ME)R
  • Safety awareness of oneself and others.

Other information

Radiographers typically work 36 hours per week, this is worked as 3x 12 hour shifts with a one hour unpaid lunch break. There are also sometimes opportunities to opt for 12, 24, 42 or 48 hour contract. 

Our centre is open Monday to Sunday between 7.30am - 8.30pm and Radiographers work on a rotation basis. We do open on some bank holidays but close down over the Christmas and Easter period.

I confirm that in the event that my DBS certificate contains any police or other information I will produce the original DBS certificate to UK Biobank within 5 working days following my receipt of it, in order for UK Biobank to proceed with my application. I acknowledge that if I fail to produce my original DBS certificate within this timeframe, UK Biobank may not proceed with my application.

I understand that if I commence work before I receive my DBS certificate, or produce it to UK Biobank, that this will be on a conditional basis as set out in my conditional offer letter and conditional contract. If my DBS check is unsatisfactory to UK Biobank I acknowledge that my employment will be discussed and the job offer may be withdrawn.

I confirm that I give my consent for UK Biobank to take a copy of my original DBS certificate and hold the copy for as long as is necessary to complete the recruitment process. At the end of this period I acknowledge that UK Biobank will remove the copy from their records and destroy it.

I further acknowledge that UK Biobank may share the information contained on the DBS certificate with a third party for the purposes of seeking guidance on the recruitment decision, where appropriate.
