Position

Torbay Pharma are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team in Paignton on a permanent basis. This is a key role for the business in which the successful candidate will provide functional and technical support to Production and Packaging, performing quality critical checks on the manufacturing lines to ensure compliance has been maintained to assure product quality.


About the Role


Reporting into the OQA Manager, you will be one of the leads within the OQA department, you will manage/lead Quality Continuous Improvements projects to reduce waste and improve key metrics in safety, quality, time, and cost.

OQA are the first point of call when problems occur and have responsibility to ensure that these problems are reviewed and closed in a timely manner. You will be required to participate in product investigations and support all Production functions in OQA activities.


What you can expect in a Quality Engineer role at TP:


  • Be part of the OQA team, including working within the Production/cleanroom areas and within those teams
  • Perform real-time quality critical checks to assure product quality and enable progression and release to market.
  • Support of and perform non-routine and internal audits of processes throughout Torbay Pharmaceuticals
  • Undertake key quality system activities, e.g. investigation of product quality incidents, providing support to Production for PQIs
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure quality critical checks and analyses are performed as required with minimal disruption to the manufacturing process.
  • Being confident in ability to make potentially unpopular decisions relating to product viability including assessing the suitability of product manufacture continuation.
  • Troubleshooting when issues arise relating to specific critical pieces of equipment, unexpected results, out of specification and anomalous results. Assessment of troubleshooting outcomes to determine the most appropriate course of action.
  • Ensure all work is carried out according to Good Manufacturing Practice and current Torbay Pharmaceuticals policies and procedures.
  • Use of the PQS in relation to the OQA department; CAPA, documentation, audit.

Requirements

What are we looking for:


Essential

  • Trained and knowledgeable in the use Quality tools
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma
  • Experience of final decision making
  • Experience of root cause analysis.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of working within a GMP/GDP/GLP licenced facility
  • Knowledge of commercial scale pharmaceuticals manufacturing

  • Ability to lead and support a team of quality technicians.
  • Ability to lead and support Continuous Improvement projects throughout TP.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise.
  • Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Accurate and robust record keeping.
