Position

We’re looking for a Operations Assistant who will support the company in delivering smooth resourcing of equipment and vehicles to our environmental projects across the UK. In this role, you’ll be a key part of ensuring the effective and safe running of our Ecological season. You’ll be part of the wider Business Operations team and will have an active input in driving innovation within the company. This role will suit someone looking for a varied role, combining desk and non-desk based activities, and will appeal to someone looking to gain experience in Operations, in particular within the environmental sector.


Reporting to the Resourcing Manager, your main responsibilities will be to aid the team with efficient purchasing, management and resourcing of all equipment, PPE and clothing within the company. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our inventory management software and clothing ordering portal. You will also support in the allocation our company vehicles to projects and ensure their upkeep. Continual tracking of equipment and regular auditing of stores will be a key part of the role. Projects may require additional staff so a part of your role will be to assist with the management and resourcing of casual staff.

This role is a full-time, fixed-term position with immediate start, until the end of October but with the possibility for extension. The position will be based at our Head Office on the Surrey Research Park, in Guildford. The successful candidate must live within commuting distance of Guildford, as this will be an office-based role.

Requirements

Successful candidates should

  • be a strong communicator and able to engage with a variety of stakeholders
  • be organised, efficient and able to work under pressure
  • be computer literate with experience using MS Office products (primarily Word and Excel)
  • be flexible and happy to go the extra mile when required
  • be quick to learn and willing to explore tasks outside their comfort zone
  • be a vehicle owner and hold a full UK driving licence.

Ideally successful candidates will also have the following

  • experience of resourcing or equipment management
  • some technical knowledge relating to field kit or survey equipment, particularly related to ecology.
