The role

We are looking for a Bid Manager to continue to grow our business by securing multi-million pound projects, across our multitude of private and public sector clients.

You will be responsible for assisting in the identification of bidding opportunities and owning the entire bid processes for all Thomson service lines. You will be responsible for creating bids that meet and exceed the company gross margin, as well as collaborating with and actively supporting our technical teams with winning new and repeat work. You will play a central role in ensuring that the Commercial Team meets its annual sales target and group revenue targets.

Requirements

Successful candidates must:

  • Have a background in environmental services (e.g. ecology, hydrology, landscaping or arboriculture), infrastructure (rail, highways or water), or tier one contracting
  • Have the ability to write clearly, accurately and persuasively
  • Have a commercial mindset
  • Be competent with Microsoft software packages
  • Have strong planning and organisation skills with proven ability to multi-task and handle several bids simultaneously
  • Be analytical with strong attention to detail and have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, adopting flexibility with working hours when necessary
  • Have an appreciation of preparing bids, tender responses, bills of quantity; and take pride in securing the work
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, taking accountability for submitting bids and proposals on time
  • Have an interest in the natural world.

Ideally you will also have

  • A background in environmental services (i.e. ecology, landscaping or arboriculture), infrastructure (rail, highways or water) or tier one contracting
  • A degree or applicable qualifications.

Other information

This is a full-time permanent position based at our Head Office on the picturesque Surrey Research Park in Guildford, although we will also consider remote working arrangements. Subject to government COVID-19 restrictions, the successful candidate will be expected to work from the office as well as from home.
