What does SYSTEMIQ do?

SYSTEMIQ orchestrates system change in clean energy, circular material solutions and sustainable land use. This means re-imagining our industries, re-configuring the world of energy, and regenerating the ecosystems around us. By addressing systemic failures in these areas, SYSTEMIQ aims to unlock economic opportunities that benefit business, society, and the environment.

Since our start in 2016, we have grown to more than 200 people working across locations in Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and the UK.

Our work includes:

• Developing a Marshall Plan for the global ocean on behalf of 14 heads of state,
• Co-leading the Circular Economy Initiative for Germany (CEID), jointly with Acatech, the German National Academy of Science and Engineering,
• Developing a "System Change Compass" to help guide the EU's Green Deal and COVID Recovery Package,
• Accelerating the growth of the world’s largest portfolio of regenerative tropical forest businesses through our Impact Accelerator, including our work with Partnership for Forests,
• Managing the Energy Transitions Commission in aiming to accelerate transitions to zero carbon energy systems,
• Building and scaling Indonesia’s most important frontline solution for stopping plastic pollution entering our precious oceans through Project STOP,
• Working with prominent global corporates and SMEs to turn into pioneers of system change in their respective industries

Throughout the year SYSTEMIQ takes on a number of interns across different areas of the business. Please note, these internships are not guaranteed at specific times, but are recruited on a year-round need to hire basis dependant on project requirements.

These internships offer a chance to work on highly strategic projects with exposure to high calibre scientific research and strategy consultancy work, focusing on developing world-leading solutions to drive system change.

We work with both global blue chip clients, public-private partnerships and ground-breaking new ventures. Recent initiatives include advising on circular economy in Germany, developing go-to-market strategies for new technologies as well as forest restoration and preventing ocean plastic pollution in South East Asia.

This particular opportunity sits within our regenerative food and land use team and so we are looking for candidates with an interest, and ideally experience in this field.

SYSTEMIQ is looking for individuals with a strong record of excellence and achievement. You have proven that in different contexts and are keen to work in a young, entrepreneurial company where you can get involved in a variety of work, shape the business and make maximum impact. You are passionate about SYSTEMIQ's mission and approach to system change.

• Master degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Management. Finance or similar field
• Demonstrable passion for sustainability / social enterprise topics. Work experience in this this area is also hugely beneficial in consideration for this role.
• Strong analytics and problem solving / structuring skills.
• Instinctive ability to absorb and digest relevant scientific literature from multiple sources.
• Relationship management skills, also on a senior level (senior scientists, C-level from the industry, policy makers etc.)
• Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to identify opportunities and new initiatives.
• Experience of working on regenerative food and land use projects would be beneficial
• Fluent in English and good command in German
• Ideally experience working on projects in the field of regenerative land use/ farming
