Position

Project STOP (www.stopoceanplastics.com) is an initiative to accelerate waste management system improvements in South-East Asia, starting in Indonesia, co-developed by Borealis and SYSTEMIQ. The project aims to make a scalable front-line contribution to marine plastic debris prevention and ocean health. The first city partnership was launched in May 2018 in Muncar, Banyuwangi, East Java, where the project team will operate for 3 years. In 2019, Project STOP is scaling to two additional cities and is recruiting a team to support this expansion.

Role description

We are looking for a Finance Associate to join the Project STOP team to ensure we are compliant with our funders and running the project efficiently and effectively.

The role will require a high level of personal drive, project management skills, English competency and advanced problem-solving abilities. Ideally your background includes working with grant money, procurement and managing contract requirements. You would be keen to work in a small company where you can play a shaping role and make an impact.

Responsibilities

  • Hands on day-to-day management of the Project STOP Finance function
  • Grant management for Project STOP funders
  • Ensure delivery of financial reporting to Project STOP funders on a quarterly, bi-annually and annual basis
  • Managing collection and processing of monthly KPIs from each STOP team
  • Managing the audit process
  • Managing procurement and payments process
  • Managing Petty Cash reimbursement for each location
  • Preparing budgets
  • The constant drive to improve and automate the Project STOP Finance function and internal control procedures in line with procurement rules and SYSTEMIQ’s policies

Requirements

SYSTEMIQ is looking for individuals with a strong record of excellence and achievement. You have proven that in different contexts and are keen to work in a young, entrepreneurial company where you can get involved in a variety of work, shape the business and make maximum impact. You are passionate about SYSTEMIQ's mission and approach to system change. Specifically, you have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar project finance role
  • Experience with procurement
  • Basic knowledge of taxation in Indonesia
  • Finance and Accounting background (preferred)
  • Ability to stick to time constraints
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesian
  • Willingness to be able to travel for approximately 2 weeks a month to Jakarta and other STOP sites (currently Muncar and Pasuruan)  
  • Must align with SYSTEMIQ values (creativity, challenge, collaborate, change and care) and be able to demonstrate how they have lived these values in a professional setting
