Project STOP (www.stopoceanplastics.com) is a new initiative to accelerate waste management system improvements in South-East Asia, starting in Indonesia, co-developed by Borealis and SYSTEMIQ. The project aims to make a scalable front-line contribution to marine plastic debris prevention and ocean health. The first city partnership was launched in May 2018 in Muncar, Banyuwangi, East Java, where the project team will operate for 3 years. In early 2019, Project STOP was able scale to an additional city, Pasuruan, in east Java. We are now ready to scale our third city, Jembrana, Bali, and are recruiting a team for the initial project work.
Role description
The Community Development Project Officer will have a critical role in Project STOP. He/she will support the Chief Delivery Officer and Operations Officer in ensuring the project meets community and government needs and local stakeholders are committed to the changes required. He/she will also develop and implement a behavior change program that inspires Jembrana households to participate in a clean, sorted waste system.
