Position

Sulmara have an exciting opportunity for a GIS Specialist to join our Data Team in our Norwich Office.


The GIS Specialist will assist the Data Team, ensuring that data processing progress meets the project specifications with no or minimum interruption.

Requirements

Main Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist in tender line planning and able to QC (Quality Control) other line plans.
  • Perform advanced visualization of survey data in AutoCAD, ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.
  • Responsible in the preparation of chart in AutoCAD, ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, following the client specification.
  • Be able to create and edit ArcGIS Pro projects and upload features to the Sulmara web portal.
  • Be able to create web application and create new templates.
  • Be able to perform tasks with premade FME scripts.
  • Be able to create and edit FME scripts.
  • Have basic understanding about coordinate system and be able to do transformations using software AutoCAD, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and FME.
  • Be able to add custom transformations to a preferred software, AutoCAD, ArcMap ArcGIS Pro and FME.
  • Contribute GIS support to data products required for hydrographic survey and inspection projects, working alongside geophysicists and data processors
  • Populate ESRI geodatabases using seabed survey data model (SSDM) framework
  • Produce layouts and generate map series depicting hydrographic and geophysical data
  • Ensure quality control and assurances of GIS data and charts against requirements
  • Develop charting standards methodologies, and set best practices for geospatial data
  • Implement automated processes and data pipelines to streamline the geospatial data workflows
  • Develop graphs and analysis to supplement current reporting
  • Stay up to date with GIS and geospatial technologies, access their applicability, propose improvements to met business objectives

Skills Requirements:


  • Strong analytical thinker and process-driven individual.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in an international team, globally deployed.
  • Ability to cope with challenging deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken), other languages will be a plus.
  • Self-motivated, pro-active approach.

Experience, Competency and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, GIS, or related field.
  • Relevant practical experience related to Data Delivery.
  • Understanding of database concepts and software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and FME)
  • Experience creating maps or charts using ESRI suite and map series
  • Technical knowledge in analysis of geospatial data and calculation of statistics
