Team

Within ShareAction, the Financial Sector Standards (FSS) Directorate is responsible for analysis and research on global responsible investment (RI) practices, and engagement with a range of actors to support implementation of higher RI standards. This includes working closely and supportively with networks of asset owners. It also includes benchmarking of international asset managers, banks and insurers followed by direct engagement with firms in those sectors to help drive adoption of more ambitious responsible investment, financing and underwriting practices.

The Senior Engagement Manager role will sit within the Investor Standards (IS) team, which is part of the FSS Directorate. The IS team is responsible for challenging asset managers and insurers on their RI practices, socialising ShareAction research relevant to advancing RI standards well as coordinating investor engagement and outreach across the organisation.

Position

What you’ll do (key responsibilities) – most important responsibilities in bold

  • Develop high-calibre relationships with 25 of the world’s leading asset managers, including through 3-4 detailed meetings/call per annum with each asset manager.
  • Prepare and update an overview of each of the 25 asset managers, covering their business model, their approach to RI and their relationship with ShareAction.
  • Schedule, prepare for and lead follow-up calls with each of the 25 asset managers on their performance in our biennial asset manager benchmark and promote tailored and impactful recommendations for positive change.
  • Assist the Head of Investor Standards and IS Research to develop research papers (for internal and/or external consumption) addressing thematically important subjects where RI standards should be strengthened, with practical recommendations that asset managers can implement.
  • Schedule, prepare for and lead calls to present these research papers and practical recommendations with each of the 25 asset managers.
  • Feed learnings from these calls into the drafting of ShareAction’s “real” RI standards work targeted at asset owners, assisting as required with the preparation of material to present our guidance papers, recommendations and findings on the subject to Asset Owners
  • Provide engagement support to ShareAction campaign teams with the 25 asset managers, supporting on the organisation and hosting of calls (with campaign teams), circulating ShareAction research and advocating for our campaigns and coalitions.
  • Provide periodic updates to the organisation of interactions with the 25 asset managers, outlining predominant themes, in particular issues of relevance to our campaign, policy and/or research teams.
  • Ensure detailed notes of calls with the 25 asset managers are captured in our CRM system, SalesForce.

Requirements

  • Strong team-working aptitude: experience of working within a team based on mutual trust, respect and inclusion

Desirable:

  • Experience of working within the financial industry
  • Knowledge of responsible investment industry and/or environmental and social themes
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office 365, particularly SharePoint
  • Experience of working with CRM systems, ideally Salesforce
  • Basic knowledge of data protection regulations / GDPR

Salary Band: £40,000 – £49,060 + 8% pension contribution
