Position

If you have a BA or MA in the field of languages and translation and want to work with translation in the real world, then this role is for you. We offer training and experience to help you establish yourself in your translation career.

Our in-house translators work for a diverse and exciting range of clients and industries, providing an excellent grounding in a wide range of translation skills. Excellence in your native language, attention to detail and a friendly client-focused attitude are all must-haves in this role.

Sandberg is a language service provider serving other global translation agencies, delivering a high-quality service between English and the Nordic languages, working with some of the biggest brands in the world.

Requirements

Expected skills and experience

  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in language or translation studies
  • Native speaker of Norwegian
  • Fluency in English
  • Positive, helpful and agile attitude
  • Ability to learn new skills, technologies and workflows quickly
  • Great teamwork skills
  • Excellent IT skills

Knowledge of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools is a significant advantage but not a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include:

  • Translation (English into Norwegian)
  • Revision (English into Norwegian)
  • Reviewing feedback
  • Other linguistic tasks assigned to you as requirements arise
  • Collaboration with other linguists, teams and departments across Sandberg

You’ll be trained to:

  • Use a multitude of software tools, including translation environment tools
  • Use a host of linguistic resources dedicated to serving the high-profile and specific localisation needs of our client’s brand
  • Follow different translation workflows for different project types
  • Understand different translation and quality control processes

How we collect your data

We will collect the information from various sources. These sources are:

  • CVs, application forms
  • Passport, ID information
  • Driving licence
  • Interviews
  • Assessments including online tests
  • Past employers through references

Who has access to your data?

In the recruitment stage, your information will be shared with members of the following Sandberg departments:

  • HR
  • Senior Managers
  • Managers and Team Leaders
  • Third parties to obtain a reference from a previous employer

Some of your personal data will be transferred to third party providers to comply with your contract. We may be asked to provide your personal data to local government departments in the countries we operate.

How is your data protected?

We are committed to ensuring that all data including special categories is kept secure. If we do not offer you a job, we will hold your CV for 6 months and at the end of this time you recruitment file will be deleted or destroyed.

What are your rights?

As a data subject you have many rights under the GDPR:

  • Access and obtain a free copy of your data on request;
  • To change incorrect or incomplete information;
  • To require Sandberg to delete or stop processing your data, when the information is no longer necessary for the purpose of processing;
  • Object to Sandberg processing your data when Sandberg is relying on legitimate reasons as the legal grounds for processing.
