Position: Learning Technologist

Contract: 2-year FTC

Salary: €45,000

About the Role

We are looking for a self-motivated Learning Technologist that will support the Education Development department in the development and delivery of a suite of blended and online programmes. This role will include the identification and development of training and support necessary for academic and administrative staff to deliver the programmes. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a variety of audiences to ensure the delivery of quality education utilising the latest technology.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an inclusive college environment. The Programme Learning Technologist will be responsible for the following but are not limited to.

Brightspace

  • Create, develop, test, review and support educational programmes within the VLE
  • Build the learner experience on the VLE with UDL principles at the fore
  • Lead the annual course rollover process, including updating online training content and creating and delivering training sessions with Education Delivery Department
  • Manage technical queries relating to the virtual learning environment, including helpdesk referrals, faculty access, etc.

TEL Support

  • Act as a subject matter expert in the use of RCPI’s technology enhanced learning platforms
  • Work collaboratively with various departments to advise on best use of learning technologies and applications and support their deployment
  • Work with education development and education delivery departments to ensure that academic staff, teaching faculty and others receive the necessary technical and pedagogical training to develop and deliver successful online and blended education programmes
  • Identify areas for innovation and improvement through engagement with stakeholders
  • Plan the development of online content and deliver regular reports on progress
  • Keep up to date with technology and platform developments, seeking to identify enhancements to the digital learning experience for learners

Requirements

About you

The successful applicant will hold a qualification in Technology Enhanced Learning, Instructional Design, or equivalent experience.

Other essential requirements include:

  • Experience in the Higher Education/post graduate sector.
  • Knowledge of Learning Experience Design and familiarity with the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • Experience in content development using authoring tools including familiarity with common standards and formats (e.g. HTML5, SCORM, Articulate, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, H5P, etc.)
  • Familiarity with standard content production processes and methods (e.g. storyboards, asset production and maintenance, etc.)
  • Experience of working in project teams and managing timelines effectively, with proven ability to take initiative and to take ownership for work
  • Experience providing instruction to relevant stakeholders both online and face-to-face
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and independently as required
  • Excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience working with the Brightspace Virtual Learning Environment
  • Experience developing online assessment options
  • Multimedia experience (video, audio production/editing)
  • Experience creating graphical representations of complex information (infographics)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in data reporting
