QAA is the UK's independent quality body for higher education with a mission to safeguard and improve the quality of UK higher education, wherever it is delivered in the world. QAA works with our members across the UK and now internationally, and we’re introducing new services to benefit universities and colleges throughout the UK and support their operation globally. We work closely with the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In England we have a separate role as the Designated Quality Body for higher education.

Position

The role within our busy Membership, Quality Enhancement and Standards team, is responsible for designing, developing and communicating our quality and standards activities. This will involve working across a wide range of topic areas such as effective external examining, degree classifications, future pedagogical approaches, PSRB requirements for academic courses and education for sustainable development. You will be engaged in leading projects as well as supporting activities being led by others.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals with academic and academic-related backgrounds. You should have experience of designing and leading degree provision and/or training programmes. You should be familiar with using key UK reference points, such as the Quality Code for Higher Education, Subject Benchmark Statements and the qualifications frameworks. And you will have the energy and commitment to consider how these reference points might be kept current and used imaginatively to support staff and benefit students.

You will have excellent communication skills including the ability to create imaginative, useful materials for busy academic staff and present them to a variety of audiences. You may have experience of constructing resources for audiences to engage in digital, film and/or web formats.

Location: We have offices in Gloucester and Glasgow, as well as offering employees the opportunity to work flexibly from home

Job type: Fixed term for 18 months with possibility of extension

Hours: 35 hours per week, flexible working available

Salary: £36,165 - £45,525 per annum, dependent upon knowledge, skills and experience plus excellent benefits
