Company Description

This includes providing advice to the OfS on the quality and standards of providers seeking to register with the OfS and those already on the register. It also involves providing advice to the OfS on the quality and standards of providers seeking degree awarding powers authorisations and undertaking the External Quality Assessment of higher and degree apprenticeships.

More information on our assessment methods is available on our website.

Position

Are you an academic employed, or recently employed, by a higher education provider? Are you interested in using your subject expertise to help secure the standards of higher education for the benefit of students? Do you have expertise in delivering and assessing higher education courses in either Law or subjects allied to Health? If so, you might be the person we are looking for!

We are looking to appoint expert academic assessors to conduct the assessments of providers that we undertake as the Designated Quality Body in England.

We are currently seeking applicants with academic expertise in the following subject areas, although we will be recruiting for other subjects soon.

  • Law
  • Allied Health (particularly counselling, psychotherapy and/or occupational therapy)

Requirements

As an assessor, you will be part of the teams that undertake independent assessments of higher education providers in England and reach judgements on academic standards and the quality of a provider’s higher education. The time commitment depends on the assessment method and the number of assessments you choose to accept: assessments can vary from a commitment of six days over a few weeks, to 20 days of engagement over many months. Invitations to join an assessment team are based on the suitability of your expertise to the provider under assessment.

Remuneration is calculated on the basis of £300 per day, plus an allowance for travel and subsistence in cases where an onsite visit to the provider is required. Fees for each assessment are confirmed at the point you are engaged in an assessment.
