Position

We are looking for a Videographer / Video Editor to join the team as BikeRadar and MBUK magazine prepare to launch a new content area for mountain bikers on YouTube.

In this role, you will take a lead role in filming and editing video content for the core mountain biking market, producing market-leading edits that will grab the attention of trail, downcountry, enduro and downhill riders in the UK and worldwide.

Working with a dedicated Presenter & Scriptwriter and the wider MBUK/BikeRadar teams, you will harness the heritage and authority of MBUK, which has influenced the mountain biking world since its launch in 1988, and the reach of BikeRadar’s audience of more than 710,000 YouTube subscribers to deliver a regular flow of cutting-edge MTB content.

As a passionate rider and consumer of MTB media, you will have an in-depth understanding of what makes riders tick – and the content they want to watch. You’ll play a key role in developing ideas, formats and editing style/treatment, in order to produce entertaining and engaging content for a passionate audience of riders.

You will be capable of running a project from start to finish, including pre-production shoot planning, filming on location (in the UK and internationally) and in our state-of-the-start studio, and organising raw material and gathering assets, before editing the finished product.

You will also need to be comfortable working closely with multiple stakeholders, internal and external, to deliver commercial video content.

A bit about the role

  • Film video content on location and in Our Media’s studio in Bristol
  • Gather third-party assets for video content
  • Produce polished edits to brief with creative flair, using video footage, images, sound (dialogue and effects), motion graphics and grading
  • Work closely with the Presenter & Scriptwriter, and wider video team, to develop and execute ideas, devise formats and develop edit treatment
  • Regularly review edits, analysing areas for improvement, engagement and traffic data, and audience/industry feedback
  • Use Adobe Photoshop to create high-performing thumbnails and confidently upload videos to YouTube
  • Create and edit videos for YouTube Shorts and social media
  • Plan shoots, including logistics and the creation of shot lists based on a brief or script

Requirements

We're looking for someone who has most of the following:

  • Demonstrable experience working with modern video cameras, ideally including Canon Cinema EOS & Sony FS
  • Demonstrable experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Experience using Adobe After Effects (or similar motion graphics software) to produce polished, market-leading edits is desirable
  • Demonstrable passion for mountain biking, including MTB tech, history and riding across a variety of disciplines
  • Thorough understanding of the mountain bike video market, including competitors, trends and opportunities to push things forward
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, across multiple projects
  • Practical and theoretical understanding of filming and editing best practice, and a desire to continue learning
  • Understanding of popular YouTube aesthetics, trends and formats
  • Confidence to take initiative and use creative flair on a project, while staying on-brief
  • Experience working on commercial projects is desirable, with an understanding of the difference between commercial and editorial content
  • Experience using a cloud-based workflow and media management is desirable
  • Experience operating a drone (or holding a drone licence) is desirable
  • A willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Full UK driving licence is desirable
