Trends Editor, BBC Science Focus

Our Media Bristol United Kingdom up to £25,000 Hybrid

Warning! Vacancy not published

Company Description

Our Media is a leading special-interest content business, based in the buzzing, creative city of Bristol. We're home to market-leading brands in craft, cycling, science and nature, homes and music.

We help our audiences pursue their passions through highly trusted, original content – in print, video and online. Our much-loved brands include BBC Science Focus, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Your Home, Gathered.how, BikeRadar and Cycling Plus.

Position

BBC Science Focus is looking for a trends editor to help take our digital growth to the next level. The Trends Editor will be responsible for the brand’s trending content, producing short features that tie into current affairs. These are the stories that happen in the national conversation where we think the world of science will have something to contribute. Sometimes this will be obvious, like on World Mental Health day, and other times it’ll require us to tap into the national psyche.

The Trends Editor will use their editorial nous – and the latest tricks and tools – to chart trends when and as they happen, understanding the mechanics of how to make sure our content is seen in a crowded field, and produce content according to these trends. Once their articles are published, they’ll delve into various analytics tools to understand what worked and what didn’t, across the web, Apple News and social media.

This is a role for someone who loves the world of science and digital content equally. It will suit someone who loves the feedback of seeing traffic numbers grow and enjoys creative problem-solving.
