Position

We are looking for a Digital Writer, with a focus on mountain biking, to join the BikeRadar team. If you’re passionate about mountain biking, and want to share your knowledge and enthusiasm with our readers, then this is the job for you.

You’ll be able to write about all things mountain biking, offering buying advice, sharing riding tips and reacting to breaking news. You will also contribute to the rest of the site, including road cycling and gravel riding content.

As Digital Writer, you will play a key role in creating and updating BikeRadar’s buyer’s guides, ensuring we are offering impartial, review-led advice for riders of all levels. You’ll have your finger on the pulse when it comes to the latest MTB tech, helping riders decide what’s really worth their hard-earned money.

You will focus on high-performing evergreen content, delivering up-to-date riding, workshop and fitness advice to our audience of millions of cyclists. You will work closely with BikeRadar staff, and the audience development and commerce teams at Our Media, to help plan, optimise and analyse the performance of content.

You will also cover breaking news on the stories that matter, post content to our social media channels and contribute to the BikeRadar Podcast as required.

A bit about the role

  • Deliver high-quality articles appropriate to the BikeRadar audience, in line with the content strategy

  • Create and update buyer’s guides with the latest reviews and advice

  • Create and update evergreen content, including riding advice, technical explainers and how-to articles

  • Write informative, engaging and timely news stories

  • Generate ideas for future content, suitable for the BikeRadar audience

  • Ensure all content is thoroughly researched, accurate and delivered in the appropriate style

  • Edit and adapt existing content to make it web-friendly

  • Use SEO and commerce data to analyse the performance of existing content and plan future content

  • Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and developments across the cycling industry

  • Create and upload content to BikeRadar’s content management system and social media channels

  • Create and send the BikeRadar newsletter

  • Assist on photo shoots, video shoots and commercial projects as required

  • Contribute to the BikeRadar Podcast as required

  • Attend trade shows, launches and press events as required

  • Develop and maintain productive industry relationships

  • Plan your workload efficiently and ensure deadlines are met

Requirements

  • A passion for mountain biking

  • In-depth knowledge of MTB tech, including XC, downcountry, trail riding and enduro

  • Knowledge of other cycling disciplines, including road cycling and gravel riding, is also desirable

  • Excellent command of written English

  • Ability to write engaging, well-researched and accurate copy to tight deadlines

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Familiarity with social media tools, SEO and content management systems is desirable

  • Demonstrable experience in journalism, publishing or a related content role is desirable

We are currently working in a hybrid way, with around 3 days a week spent in our lovely purpose built offices in central Bristol (complete with barista and bike park), and the rest of the week working from home.
