We help our audiences pursue their passions through highly trusted, original content – in print, video and online. Our much-loved brands include BBC Science Focus, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Your Home, Gathered.how, BikeRadar and Cycling Plus.


We also have an award-winning content agency that works with major charities, brands and membership organisations to help them tell their stories and engage audiences better – in print, video, and online.

Position

As a Design Manager within the Our Media Studio you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our commercial activity across various platforms. Reporting to the Head of Creative, you will help to lead a team of designers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality design solutions that align with our brand's objectives and resonate with our audience. This role requires a blend of creative vision, leadership skills, and technical proficiency to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic publishing environment.


Working across the Our Media portfolio of brands, the Design Manager will partner with brand editors, sales, project management and copy teams to create original and eye-catching creative across display, print, email, native, affiliate and social channels. You will have responsibility for managing the workflow and delivery of the design team to ensure all projects are delivered on schedule and in-line with the client brief.


This role is available on a 4-day a week part time basis.

Requirements

  • Relevant industry experience within design role – working with brands, advertising and/or editorial content.
  • Understanding of the print and digital advertising market
  • Understanding of campaign success metrics and how different design methods support these.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstratable experience managing and mentoring a team of designers.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams across multiple brands.
  • Outstanding portfolio of successfully delivered projects that demonstrate a strong flair for visual communication of content, conceptual thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Your design skills will demonstrate visual diversity that can be applied to a variety of brands, showing an appreciation for relevant audiences.
  • Passionate about design trends, inspired and engaged by innovation.
  • Keen understanding of user experience and interaction design
  • Attention to detail and consistency.
  • Proven knowledge of Creative suite. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects
  • It is essential that you are a team player – able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with digital delivery teams and take direction from senior stakeholders.
