About the OPTions Initiative Learning Platform

Options Consultancy (Options) is preparing to implement a second phase of the OPTions Initiative Learning Platform (OLP). The Learning Platform is expected to support organisations (innovators) which have received funding to advance their work. The objective of the innovators is to employ innovative and transformative approaches that put women and girls in control of their reproductive health choices.


The Platform will be expected to accelerate and track the impact of innovators by providing non-financial support. To do so, the Platform will support innovators in groups and individually to work towards and achieve proof of concept and develop a plan for sustainable impact at scale. The Platform will leverage learnings from previous phases of the initiative, innovators’ lessons learned, and expertise in the area to provide best practices and build a collaborative innovator community and extended professional network.

Position

The Next Generation Methods Consultant will be responsible for supporting innovators as they develop next-generation methods in the safe abortion space. The consultant will, among other tasks, identify NGM innovators’ priority support areas through a needs assessment; support in designing of a technical support delivery plan and in delivering it, and support the OLP team to identify additional specific NGM technical expertise that might be required.

Requirements

This is an exciting and impactful consultancy role, forging close working relationships with the Initiative’s NGM innovators. The purpose of the assignment is to provide both group-based and one-to-one capacity-building and support sessions with OPTions’ NGM innovators to aid innovator teams to be strategic in their planning and early implementation and to best position themselves for success. The support provided will be tailored to innovators’ needs. The candidate will have to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrable experience in working to create and/or introduce new and innovative women’s products and services and next-generation methods.
  • A strong track record in supporting teams to navigate and plan through the innovation and their NGM method development process (or similar).
  • Deep technical expertise in providing technical support in the following areas:
  1. Collaborative ideation / refining the NGM idea
  2. Enhancing pre-clinical assessment
  3. Optimizing the clinical trial
  4. Understanding and deciding on the regulatory pathways for the innovation
  5. Developing a future-ready delivery model for the NGM innovation
  • Passionate about nurturing innovators along their journey to scale.
  • French and Spanish language skills are an advantage, but interpreters/translators will be available if the consultant does not speak French and Spanish
