Position

Purpose

The role will involve assisting the Risk Team in carrying out the day to day aspects of risk management and providing support to the business in implementing an effective risk management framework.

Team Aims 

  • To help the business to identify and monitor it’s risks
  • To ensure the levels of risk being taken in the funds are consistent with the funds’ objectives, policies and investor expectations
  • To assist the business in finding ways to minimise, monitor and control the probability and/or impact of threats materialising
  • To provide reassurance to the board and management on the suitability and effectiveness of its controls through regular and ad hoc reporting and other MI
  • To help raise awareness of the benefits of an effective risk management framework throughout the business and educate employees on the company’s risk management framework
  • To identify good and bad practice providing feedback on failures in controls, recommendations for improvement and, where appropriate, remedial action

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analysis of breaches and other risk events including root cause analysis, trend analysis and preventative measures
  • Ensuring fund information held within risk management systems is up to date and accurate at all times
  • Monitoring fund portfolios to ensure they are operating within all applicable regulatory, prospectus, and internal limits
  • Monitoring the level of risk taken within the funds to ensure consistency with their investment objectives and risk profiles
  • Making recommendations to the business to support the improvement of risk management
  • Preparation of MI and reports required by the Risk Committee and the Board in relation to both fund and business level risks
  • Assist with regulatory fund reporting
  • Maintain key risk management spreadsheets and registers and complete general administrative tasks
  • Assist with the update and maintenance of the company’s Risk policies and procedures
  • Assist with general risk queries
  • Assist with risk management projects

Requirements

Primary Skills Required

  • Strong numeric and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with complex queries
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to use initiative and work unsupervised in a proactive manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise 

Secondary Skills Required

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • PC literacy and internet skills

 Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level
  • Completed or working towards IOC (Investment Operations Certificate) or an appropriate risk management qualification

 Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role or a fund operations background
  • An understanding of the UK Regulatory Framework
