Position

Team Aims

The successful applicant will join a successful and growing financial services company headquartered in Bolton. This is a new role, joining a small team which sits within the wider “Fund Administration Team”.

 

The team objectives are:

  • Ensure the businesses asset universe static data is setup, captured and maintained timely and accurately in the businesses core Fund Accounting System and in line with all necessary regulatory and business requirements.
  • Full trade capture and settlement of assets in line with business requirements in addition to liaising with brokers and investment managers where necessary to ensure accurate reflection of asset trades in the businesses Fund Accounting System.

Capture, processing and checking of corporate actions across asset universe.

  • Ensuring assets are monitored and reconciled against Custodians records.
  • Ensuring asset universe price setup and hierarchy is maintained and correct at all times with external third party providing validated pricing service (SunGard / Valuelink Pricing Services). This includes an initial assessment of asset price data (sources, static, stale etc) at each valuation point received from pricing services before released to the pricing / NAV production team.
  • Ensuring asset universe captures all current taxation requirements (maintenance of system WHT tables, capture and regular review and maintenance of off-shore income gains and reporting requirements etc).
  • Maintaining relationships with various data vendors with a view to ensuring that data feeds are current and accurate in addition to ensuring that the data supplied is in line with relevant legal agreements and service standards.
  • Working with other departments within the business to ensure that any necessary data capture requirements are facilitated and met with a view to the Fund Accounting System being the primary data source for the business product and asset universe.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the team has in place appropriate systems and controls including maintaining team procedures with a view to ensuring the team and the business operates in line with current and future regulatory requirements.

 

Purpose of the Position / Main duties and Responsibilities

  • To perform duties in line with company and team objectives.
  • Contribute to establishing full team procedures and controls along with appropriate maintenance and regular reviews.
  • Comprehensively monitor inbox and identify items which impact the area, such as trade reports, contract notes, corporate action notices and queries.
  • To ensure investment system is updated with new security set ups, trades and corporate actions in line with department guidelines.
  • Maintain and review security universe in accurate and timely fashion.
  • Instruct new trades to relevant custodians in compliance with market and custodian deadlines.
  • Liaise responsibly with all stakeholders, such as investment managers and brokers, in order to resolve issues.
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with stakeholders appropriately.
  • Monitor unmatched and failed trade reports, resolving issues in time to ensure timely settlement wherever possible.
  • Monitor new corporate action notifications and diarise key dates appropriately.
  • Advise relevant fund managers of corporate action decision dates and provide details of the terms if required.
  • Collate corporate action decisions and submit elections to custodians prior to deadline.
  • Escalate issues appropriately to Head of team.
  • Provide support to Head of team and produce accurate and intelligent MI.

Requirements

Essential Skills

 

  • Knowledge of asset types held within UK collective investment schemes, including asset static data setup, capture and ongoing maintenance.
  • Understanding of trade capture parameters and processes for assets held in UK collectives.
  • Knowledge of the trade settlements process for various assets held in UK collectives covering worldwide markets.
  • Knowledge of global markets, asset pricing data and asset data vendors.
  • Knowledge of corporate events / corporate actions, including the capture, processing and fund accounting entries in NAV production of UK regulated collectives.
  • Knowledge of UK and international market practices
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify effective continuous improvement ideas.
  • Excellent ability to communicate at all levels of the business and with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to participate in projects and work to deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with complex queries.
  • Computing skills, proven ability to use the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Sungard Investone Enterprise use / experience.
  • Knowledge of income capture and processing, including taxation of income (includes WHT and associated reliefs, knowledge and experience around taxation of offshore funds in respect of UK collective investment schemes).

 

Qualifications

  • Completion or working towards IOC (Investment Operations Certificate).
