Manor Renewable Energy Ltd (MRE) supports the development, construction and maintenance of offshore wind projects by supplying temporary power, vessel provision, engineering services, remedial works and marine consultancy services. In 2017 Manor Renewable Energy Ltd acquired Manor Marine UK Ltd, a shipyard which, for 30 years, has been supplying a high standard of services and specialist skills to deliver craftsmanship and excellence in the construction and remedial works of multiple vessels. MRE continues to organically grow and is looking to realise new opportunities to expand; there is now a requirement for a new permanent role within its finance team based in Portsmouth. This opportunity will provide the successful candidate with career & professional development.

Position

The Vessel Engineering Supervisor will assume a role reporting to the MRE Fleet Engineering Manager and MRE Fleet Manager.

  • Involvement will be in a wide range of activities including but limited to the following, Be the initial point of contact for the vessels regarding engineering and other issues.
  • Ensuring the vessels are maintained to a high standard and operational downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be the initial point of contact for the vessels, this will involve receiving emails and phone calls (sometimes out of hours), being proactive with your approach to solving all matters in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Be the main liaison between MRE Fleet managers and its subsidiary company Manor Marine regarding any required engineering support.
  • Arrange attendance where necessary of all external contractors required to provide inspection and certification of MRE vessels.
  • Identify and arrange planned and emergency dry dockings for MRE vessels as required.
  • Attend, manage Engineering crew, contractors and yards during maintenance periods and dry dockings etc.
  • Ensure that accurate records are kept relating to any servicing and repairs made.
  • Identify, obtain quotations, and order any required spare or replacement parts required for use on MRE and contracted Vessels.
  • Identify and implement improvements to vessels and various vessel related activities.
  • Provide technical expertise to the vessel Engineers when required
  • Ensure use of asset management and planned maintenance software systems.
  • Maintain & improve where necessary, the company’s HSEQ standard of accreditation and ensure safe systems of work are adhered to.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records of repairs and other works carried out, also ensuring the vessels are doing the same.
  • Be prepared to travel throughout the UK and Europe, this will involve nights away from home.
  • Ensure that critical, non-critical spare parts and required tooling etc is identified, procured, stored correctly and logged.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or similar (equivalent professional experience will be considered).
  • Minimum three-years’ experience in marine mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout UK and Europe.
  • Having an analytical and inquisitive nature.
  • Attention to detail with proven ability to organise and plan own and others workload.
  • Confident interpersonal communication skills are important as well as being a team player along with the ability to work with all levels of seniority within the business.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to think problems through logically.
  • A calm and professional manner.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office product suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Have a hands on approach where necessary.

Other information

Competitive remuneration package with 25 days holiday + bank holidays a year, pension, discount voucher scheme. Full time 37 ½ hr week. Full training & support will be provided where necessary and appropriate. Company vehicle and fuel card.
