Position

A market leading renewable energy and support business is recruiting am HSEQ trainee to join their team in their Dorset office based in Portland Port, Castletown.

In the job role of a Trainee HSEQ Coordinator, working for MRE & MM, you will be one of the company’s interfaces between the workforce and management with regards to HSEQ. You will be learning on the job and be part of a team, to implement and maintain the requirements of legislation and ISO45001:2018, 14001:2015 & 9001:2015 and other accreditations. You will work closely with other HSEQ professionals to ensure required standards are achieved. When trained you will ensure adequate Safety, Health and Environmental guidance is provided to relative managers and employees. Training to NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health and possibly higher will be supplied for the right candidate.

Your tasks and responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

  • Learning, and ensuring assessments pertaining to risk, hazardous substances, manual handling etc. are suitable and sufficient
  • Updating the company’s Quality Management Systems
  • Input on incident & near miss investigations to find the route cause and to prevent a recurrence
  • Be part of the sites HSEQ committee
  • Assist in the design, implementation and management of all company safety promotions
  • Attend training serials where requested
  • When trained, coordinating the safety, health and environmental monitoring programme to ensure legal and organisational compliance by assisting the HSEQ Manager
  • Input on current safety related HSEQ documentation to ensure it is satisfactory
  • Be part of the team to promote and improve the Safety Culture
  • Support the HSEQ Manager, HSEQ Coordinator and other key Managers and Supervisors in monitoring and continuous improvements
  • When trained, carry out and document relevant Safety Tours, reviews and inspections as necessary

Requirements

Ideally the successful candidate will have:

  • A relative degree level/professional qualification or similar
  • Self-motivated to succeed
  • A passion for implementing and maintaining HSEQ standards
  • A willingness to develop and attend internal and external training courses as appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to communicate verbally and written and be confident liaising with all levels in the business from shop floor to senior management
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, planning, prioritising & problem-solving skills

Other information

Remuneration package is generous with 25 days holiday + bank holidays a year, pension, with a competitive starting wage dependant on skills and qualifications. Full time 37 ½ hr week. Full training & support will be provided where necessary and appropriate.
