Company Description

Manor Renewable Energy Ltd (MRE) supports the development, construction and maintenance of offshore wind projects by supplying temporary power, vessel provision, engineering services, remedial works and marine consultancy services. In 2017 Manor Renewable Energy Ltd acquired Manor Marine UK Ltd, a shipyard which, for 30 years, has been supplying a high standard of services and specialist skills to deliver craftsmanship and excellence in the construction and remedial works of multiple vessels. MRE continues to organically grow and is looking to realise new opportunities to expand; there is now a requirement for a new permanent role within its finance team based in Portsmouth.

Position

This key role will initially focus on analysing business processes, scope, develop and configure the finance ERP system as well as implement improvements using technical solutions. The role will then focus more on meeting the requirements as a Financial Controller. Reporting to the Finance Director the role will:

Define and articulate current and future finance business needs and processes. Ensure that finance business systems and processes are aligned with the overall finance strategy. Be responsible for and drive data quality standards across finance. Manage, plan and monitor business processes and operational systems to ensure user needs/service requirements are met. Provide user support and training on all finance business systems to end users.

Provide a comprehensive accounting service, monthly legal entity and group consolidated management accounts for all group companies, high quality and detailed analysis for budget holders, stakeholders, operational staff, preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, yearend audit, statutory accounts, corporation tax and compliance with HMRC. Assess risks in investments and ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations. Ensuring that a business is operating effectively, efficiently and monitor & improve internal controls. Assist the Finance Director to maintain the group & companies’ financial health and increase profitability in the long run.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare robust and accurate analysis of business performance for departments identifying variances, issues, opportunities and actions to make informed operational, financial and strategic decisions
  • Prepare monthly budget monitoring reports to budget holders
  • Prepare detailed monthly reporting to quantify, track and support vessel builds & profitability of projects, procurement savings and post completion analysis
  • Cash flow analysis and preparation of monthly forecasts.
  • Review and sign off VAT returns and payroll returns to HMRC
  • Prepare the annual Budget and Financial Plan for submission to the Board in accordance with Group timetable and rolling updates each quarter.
  • Supervise the yearend audit and providing information to the auditors/reporting accountants
  • Prepare yearend statutory accounts
  • Prepare yearend corporation tax computations for technical review and tax returns
  • Assist in due diligence and M+A
  • Managing a team of four people

Requirements

Ideally the successful candidate will be:

  • Qualified Accountant and member of ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW.
  • 4+ years’ experience in a similar FC role
  • Experience in implementing a finance ERP system, business process mapping &improvement, developing high quality financial reports
  • Experience of good project and change management delivery
  • Preferably a manufacturing/engineering/construction background
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting standards, corporation tax, VAT and income tax
  • Experience of manipulating, analysing and modelling data
  • Ability to audit and forensically examine data
  • Proficiency with accounting software required Sage 200, Xero etc. and proficient with MS Office
  • Very comfortable interacting with board directors and stakeholders of the group
  • Good oral, written communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to work longer hours if required to meet deadlines

Although this post will be based out of our Portsmouth office the candidate will be required to travel regularly to our Head Office in Portland, most likely weekly with possible overnight stays.

Other information

Competitive remuneration package with 25 days holiday + bank holidays a year, pension, discount voucher scheme, ride to work scheme. Full time 37 ½ hr week. Full training & support will be provided where necessary and appropriate.
