Network Infrastructure Engineer


  • Manchester (with hybrid working)

Your role

In this exciting and pivotal Network Infrastructure Engineer opportunity, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of M247’s global core, transit and access networks, along with the design, deployment and operational support of our UK and global private network backbone and data centre networks. This role offers a high degree of variety whilst working with leading-edge tech on a global scale.


As the ideal candidate, you’ll have the know-how to deliver network transformational programmes that underpin strategic goals, whilst providing technical assistance to other team members and colleagues as part of a 24/7/365 on-call function. What you’ll do

  • You’ll be a key stakeholder in platform design, implementation and optimization projects, whilst taking ownership of large scale network infrastructure assets, maintenance, deployment and assurance.

  • You’ll provide both onsite and remote support globally to our technical teams who have critical maintenance and development programs, whilst being a 4th Line escalation point for internal teams and customers, across all tiers of the network.

  • You’ll provide full lifecycle management of network/security devices, including reviewing and implementing network upgrades, whilst actively working on service development plans to drive improvements, cost efficiency and performance.

  • You’ll also be accountable for ensuring Transit, Peering & Colocation knowledge and understanding across the business; Traffic optimization, availability, capacity management and routing resilience; Administration of monitoring platforms; Producing network documentation to a high standard; And, service management of 3rd party vendors.

Requirements


Your skills and experience


  • Proven in the ISP and/or Telecoms industry as a Network Infrastructure Engineer, or similar.

  • Extensive knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN and resilient WAN technologies, with IS-IS and SD-WAN desirable.

  • A positive communicator and a collaborative team member.

  • The ability to urgently analyze technical issues and address Level 4 escalations.

  • Customer-centric approach with the ability to creatively mitigate and solve problems.

  • Attention to detail and drive to succeed with flexibility in approach and style.
