The role
The Network Infrastructure Manager is a technical team leadership position. Reporting into the Head of Networks, you will manage several Principal, Senior and Network Infrastructure engineers.
The role holder will be accountable for the availability of both the UK Backbone and Access Networks, as well as the build and maintenance of the SD WAN environment, ensuring high availability and operational integrity through the delivery of Fault, Capacity, Availability, Performance and Security (FCAPS) programmes across the full lifecycle of the systems.
The role holder should champion ITIL practices, in particular Change Management throughout the organisation, involving the management of complex implementation and change programmes on live network infrastructure whilst maintaining service availability.
You will need to have a very strong focus on developing and coaching the team, to assure the highest overall Network Uptime and the smooth delivery of complex solutions towards customers. You will be the technical escalation point for the team and should be able to assist and drive complex issue debugging.
You will form part of a 24/7/365 escalation-only function, acting as an escalation point to your team of engineers.

You will possess strong interpersonal, organizational and documentation skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, work in a team environment, drive effective written policies and procedures, and always maintain superior customer service. Working closely with your colleagues, you will be a positive communicator and a proactive team member.
It's highly desirable for the right person to have a strong background in the ISP, Telecoms industry or similar, be customer centric and have a solid understanding of all network routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, SD-WAN, L2/ L3 VPN and resilient WAN technologies. Also, a strong background working with Cisco Viptela SD-WAN or similar products.
