Position
The Technical & Quality Manger is a full time residential role responsible for:
- Technical oversight of the DNA processing workflow; maintenance and improvement of the ROP/KFS quality management system in compliance with the International Standard ISO 17025.
Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities
- Providing technical support to ensure continuity of service delivery, including troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation
- Working closely with the DNA Team Leader to support operational teams with technical issues, problematic samples, and with day to day tasks as necessary
- Produce Management Information reports for use by management and Project teams
- Improve existing processes where required
- Developing and delivering training in analytical DNA processes
- Contributing to Quality Policy, working towards compliance & accreditation to ISO 17025
- Maintain the Quality Manual and ensure sample processing is compliant with all relevant standards
- Performing audits and management review
- Document control, including the generation of QMS documents
- Coordinating QC/QA activities
- Coordinating preventative, corrective and improvement actions
- Management of customer complaints and feedback
- Work with others to improve customer service
- Promote a health and safety culture within the workplace
- Promote equality and value diversity
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, including Key Forensic Solutions & QIAGEN Project Teams and ROP management

Qualifications
Science or related degree
Experience
At least 3 years’ experience working in a forensic DNA laboratory, ideally in a quality or technical focussed role
- STR DNA Profiling experience, ideally using QIAGEN reagents
- Experience within an automated workflow and using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ideally using Hamilton liquid handlers
- Experience of working within an ISO17025 QMS, ideally within a quality management role managing non-conforming work and document control
- Experience of troubleshooting DNA processing workflows is essential
- Experience of training and mentoring DNA analytical staff
- Experience of research and validation in a forensic DNA setting is desirable
