Our team of forensic scientists are experienced in the interpretation and reporting of a wide range of evidence types in support of criminal investigations.

Position

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Search items from crime scenes to identify, recover, compare and analyse evidence relating to shoe marks and other physical evidence
  • Make contemporaneous examination notes; create and keep accurate records of all work undertaken
  • Ensure integrity of items and samples
  • Be able to work alone or as part of a team to strict standard operating procedures (in accordance with international standards, including ISO17025)
  • Take digital photographs and maintain library of digital images
  • It is most unlikely that court attendance will be required

  • Once the initial training in chemistry is complete, there will be a requirement to work in other teams to support their output.This may involve the recovery of DNA for analysis and the examination of items for the presence of drugs controlled under the provisions of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1971.

Qualifications

  • While a degree in an appropriate subject area would be desirable, along with experience of working in a laboratory environment, these are not essential
  • Must be educated to A-level standard

Experience

  • Should possess good numeracy and literacy skills and be familiar with routine Microsoft packages

  • Hours – 37 per week
  • Location - Coventry
  • Salary - £19,000 per annum
  • Holidays – 25 days per annum plus statutory holidays
