The South Westminster BIDs is an alliance of Business Improvement Districts covering Victoria, Victoria Westminster, Whitehall and Northbank. The area stretches from Belgravia to the Royal Courts of Justice and includes major London landmarks Buckingham Palace, Parliament Square and Trafalgar Square. Encompassing the majority of the historic processional route through Central London and major transport hubs, the area is also home to a large number of corporate occupiers, office workers and Government Departments.

We play a fundamental role in generating, promoting and executing projects that aim to support economic growth through placemaking and create a vibrant destination for those who work, visit or live in the area. Creating a high-quality public realm and environment is at the heart of what we do.

The South Westminster BID Executive Team currently has responsibility for various BID areas: Northbank, Westminster and Victoria Westminster. We will also work with the wider teams in the delivery of the BID team’s Business Plan objectives for these BID areas.

Position


This is a brand new senior role spannign the whole of the South Westminster BID portfolio.

The Head of Marketing will be supported by a successful team of Marketing, Communications and Events professionals and will work closely with the Director of Communications, Deputy Chief Executive and the wider team at South Westminster BIDs and will report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive.

You will be able to set clear strategic direction, a strong communicator and manager, and you will lead and support the successful existing marketing, communications and events team in delivery of a wide range of activity. This includes being responsible for all messaging across all channels and platforms. You will work to continually define and elevate and drive the brand to the BID membership and wider stakeholders, tailoring messaging and developing marketing campaigns and activity.

Stakeholders include:

- BID members (larger local businesses) including the Boards of the South Westminster BIDs

- Central Government, Local and Regional Government

- Other businesses and residents

- London business groups, think tanks, other BIDs and other partners as identified


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a successful existing team including Marketing Manager, Communications Manager and Events Manager. Also oversee relationships with external consultants and social media content providers.
  • Oversee budgets for marketing and events at four Central London Business Improvement Districts.
  • Attend, report to and support on the delivery of quarterly steering groups related to the activity of the marketing and communications team.
  • Work with the team to set direction and devise marketing and events plans and regularly secure support from the BID boards to take those plans forward.
  • Regularly update the BID boards on marketing and events activity.
  • Manage and oversee the marketing, social media and events programme.
  • Approve copy for regular outgoing newsletters.
  • Ensure consistency in messaging so that the integrity of the brand is maintained and promoted.
  • Work with the Comms Director and Deputy CEO to enhance the BIDs’ reputation, including writing and editing effective copy to support the CEO and Board.
  • Develop a stakeholder engagement plan to maximise relationships with BID Members and other organisations as identified.
  • Monitor and measure effectiveness and traffic across all platforms.
  • Manage content and drive traffic across all the BID platforms.
  • Manage the design and concepts, and approve copy, for all BID assets, such as annual reports.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop strong relationships and support successful delivery of overall BID activity (including Network Rail, BID members, Westminster City Council, GLA, neighbours and local residents).

Requirements

Key skills required:

- Ability to deliver tailored messaging to a range of audiences and markets

- Excellent writing skills and a confident manager

- A creative thinker able to develop how the BIDs presence and brand recognition can be further developed

- An understanding of BIDs, business and economics

- A broad understanding of economic policy

- Ability to adapt messaging across a variety of platforms

- To be politically sensitive in messaging and communications

- Ability to oversee and manage budgets


Qualifications:

- Degree standard preferable or equivalent

Experience:

- A minimum of 7 years’ experience working in Marketing, Communications and Placemaking

- A comprehensive understanding of using social media

- Working in a corporate or business environment
