Position


Role Purpose


We are looking for a Director of Social to lead the cross-platform social strategy for Jungle Creations six media brands with a combined audience of 140m. The Director of Social will be responsible for growing our audiences, deepening the communities and meeting ambitious revenue targets.


Reporting into the Managing Director of Media, the Director of Social will develop strategies and oversee the execution of these for all social platforms - with an ultimate focus on audience growth, engagement, content optimisation and social video views revenue. They will work closely with the Director of Video to input into our programming strategy, ensuring we’re creating world-class social-first content. The Director of Social will also advise Jungle’s agency, The Wild By Jungle, on developing platform strategies for clients.


The Director of Social should have an innate understanding of all platforms, a curiosity for what’s next in social and a passion for leveraging data, insights and creativity to develop a winning social strategy.


The role is most suited to a candidate who is passionate about being a leader, is experienced in growing and managing multiple social platforms, operational with a knowledge of data analysis and how to turn this into action, understands content for social and ultimately, can make measured and balanced decisions about the best interests for the brands and the wider business.


The role requires time management, people management, forecasting, working to financial targets and a strong ability to develop and execute effective strategies.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities


  • Own, develop and oversee the implementation of a social strategy across Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
  • Own the platforms P&L and grow revenue across monetised platforms, meeting ambitious targets and reporting monthly on performance
  • Manage and develop a team of platform managers and executives to execute strategies across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat
  • Oversee the sourcing process and approach, ensuring the team meeting daily sourced targets
  • Use jungleIQ (our data platform) daily to analyse platform performance, spot trends and feedback insights into the team and wider department
  • Work closely with the Director of Video and Head of Production to ensure videos are edited to the platform standards and all platform team members are trained up on reviewing
  • Work alongside the Managing Director of Media to forecast and budget for the P&L
  • Work alongside Director of Video to ensure original content is suited and optimised for all platforms
  • Manage the relationships with platform partners and ensure there is regular comms so that Jungle stay on top of any platform changes
  • Lead on managing external partnerships with other publishers and third parties to support in meeting platform ambitions
  • Look for new opportunities on existing and new platforms to grow audiences and drive revenue
  • Support the creative team on optimising content per platform, briefing in and feeding back where required
  • Work with The Wild By Jungle when required to advise and develop social strategies for clients
  • Be the ambassador for social at Jungle Creations and upskill The Wild and wider business on it
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to share updates platform updates that support trade marketing ambitions and ensure the companies big marketing initiatives are correctly optimised for social
  • Work with finance on monthly reporting, actions and video economics
  • Monitor all performance of team members with SMART targets and report on this regularly



Background and Experience


  • Experience at a similar social publisher
  • Significant experience in social media strategy and optimisation
  • Content strategy and editing knowledge preferable but not essential
  • The ability to lead a team and manage multiple platforms
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • A deep understanding of all social platforms

KPI’s:

  • Meet overall social video view P&L targets
  • Improve processes across the platform team ensuring schedules are ahead week to week
  • Maintain and improve consistency on Snapchat - meeting watchtime minutes and revenue targets
  • Grow Facebook revenue baseline across all media brands and meet platform targets
  • Grow YouTube revenue baseline across five channels working with the external consultancy
  • Develop a strategy to improve community and engagement across TikTok and Instagram

  • You will work closely with the Director of Video on developing and optimising content and growing new platform opportunities
