Position

A new opportunity has become available for a motivated and proactive candidate to join our team of engineers as a Storage Equipment Supervisor. Travelling the UK, the role of a supervisor involves coordinating a team of engineers to complete installations and maintenance projects within the industrial storage equipment industry.


We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic candidate who is keen to take on a stimulating role that will support the Project Delivery team in its next phase of growth whilst delivering coaching and onsite training to the engineer team.


The Storage Equipment Supervisor will supervise a team(s) of engineers in their duties of carrying out scheduled installations and maintenance works. The company has a nationwide customer portfolio, leading to our teams travelling the UK to complete works as required. The role will be predominately working away from home, with accommodation and stop out allowance provided.


Although the company is based in South Yorkshire we are looking to create a team that can meet our customer requirements in their area of the country.


A Supervisor will run projects on site delegating duties and tasks suitable to the level of skill and knowledge of each engineer, ensuring all relevant RAMS and necessary safety checks are adhered to. As part of their role, a supervisor will carry out continuous on-site training/coaching in line with engineers’ training/development needs.


This role will involve working alongside other members of the Project Delivery team and with the company’s approved sub-contractors. Capabilities in problem solving, effective communication and leadership are key for this role and will allow those customer/working relationships to grow.


Responsibilities:

  • Prior to going to site ensure you have the full and correct job details, materials, work equipment and PPE.
  • Organise your team and carry out the work as identified in the job pack in a timely and effective manner ensuring all relevant RAMS are adhered to, communicated and understood.
  • Supervise projects on site ensuring that all employees are delegated duties and tasks suitable for their level of skills and knowledge.
  • Monitor and ensure that projects follow schemes of works outlined by the Project Delivery team and adhere to timescales given where possible.
  • Check and inspect work carried out by your team to maintain quality and quantity of work being done.
  • Ensure all necessary safety checks are completed prior to work commencing, to include PPE and work/access equipment.
  • Continually liaise with the site contact regarding the program of works ensuring that on-site inductions are completed before commencing work.
  • Timely communicate variations of work to ensure costed and approved.
  • Any variation to a method of work/RAMS should be reported to your Line Manager before alterations are carried out.
  • On completion of a job ensure all necessary paperwork within the job pack is completed to include customer signatures where necessary. All documents are to be passed to the Project Delivery team as soon as possible.
  • Timely collection/processing of material returns before each project finishes on site.
  • Promote team work wherever possible and manage complaints on projects whether from team members or customers as far as possible.
  • Any site issues or customer complaints to be communicated to the Project Delivery Manager enabling management of continuous improvement through issue log/complaint’s log.
  • Carry out continuous on-site training with trainees and engineers, along with regular toolbox talks. Any training must be recorded using agreed systems and procedures.
  • Maintain company tools and equipment, reporting any issues using agreed processes.
  • Always thinking of our customer when carrying out duties and ensuring the ‘customer experience’ of purchasing goods and services from the company to induce repeat order potential.
  • Ensure the driver vehicle policy and handbook is adhered to.
  • Working at height and manual handling are a significant part of this role.

Requirements

  • Good standard of general education backed by a track record of continuing professional development.
  • Able to prioritise, develop work schedule, and influence others to achieve results.
  • Good organisation and planning skills to supervise team(s) to accomplish set goals and targets.
  • Exemplary communication and engagement skills.
  • Ability to understand the needs of the audience and make any necessary adaptions, whilst carrying out onsite training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the product, systems of work, installation techniques and construction basics within the racking industry.
  • Knowledge of H&S regulations relevant to the industrial storage equipment industry, to include risk assessments and method statements.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Initiative-taking, hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Diligence, tenacious, persistent, and balanced.
  • Able to articulate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships, using communication skills.
