Position

To help develop new and existing products including robustness testing, assay development and automation; documentation of product design; verification and validation studies; support for design and development of LIMS interfaces; technology transfer to UK and US clinical labs; ongoing technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform proof-of-principle experiments to explore novel product opportunities.
  • Develop and transition molecular biology methods in to robust and streamlined automated laboratory workflows, adapting novel or existing technology platforms as appropriate.
  • Perform routine experiments to support verification and validation of existing products.
  • Hands-on processing of clinical samples in pre-production workflows to verify assay performance and promote business development opportunities.
  • Support the transition and implementation of new assays and technologies to Clinical Operations.
  • Provide technical advice, operating procedures, training, education and troubleshooting support for new technologies emerging from Assay Development
  • Establish process maps of newly developed workflows to support the design and development of LIMS interfaces
  • Communicate and present project work through written reports, technical operating procedures, validation documents and/or oral presentation.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments through literature review and attendance at science & technology meetings.
  • Initiate, develop and manage collaborations with internal and external groups.
  • Support other team members and their projects.
  • Contribute to laboratory management activities.

HIPAA/GDPR Compliance: Position will

  • Agree to abide by Employment and Confidentiality Agreements and End User Policies
  • Commit to stay up to date on training requirements for HIPAA/GDPR
  • Understand the importance of the proper handling and disposal of ePHI and agrees to follow HIPAA/GDPR Regulations
  • Abide by the requirements for the proper disposal of equipment containing ePHI
  • Agree to report breaches and the improper handling of ePHI to the Company’s Privacy and Security Officers
  • Produce and adhere to proper validation documentation

Requirements

Education/Qualifications:

  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or a similar field or BSc/MSc with 3-5 years of relevant experience

Skill requirement:

  • Proven laboratory skills, particularly molecular biology (essential)
  • Expertise in laboratory automation of molecular biology workflows (desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of next-generation DNA sequencing (desirable)
  • Proven effectiveness as a team player (essential)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment (essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence, negotiate and build lasting relationships (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills including oral presentation and scientific writing (essential)
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear and concise manner (essential)
  • Ability to teach, train and transition new concepts and methods (desirable)
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills (essential)
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills (essential)
