Company Description

Inivata is a global clinical cancer genomics company utilising a proprietary, industry-leading liquid biopsy platform to transform patient care.  Using a simple blood test (liquid biopsy), the analysis of ctDNA is a new lower-cost, less invasive, highly sensitive method for oncologists to diagnose and monitor cancer progression and treatment.

The InVision™ liquid biopsy platform is based on pioneering research from the Rosenfeld Lab at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute (CRUK-CI), University of Cambridge, combines industry-leading sensitivity with a select multi-gene panel to provide clinically actionable information to clinicians. Inivata has established collaborations with world-leading cancer centres and academic institutions, and is partnering with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.  The Company has a CLIA lab in Research Triangle Park, NC and laboratories in Cambridge, UK.

Position

For the management and scientific direction of a computational team in the field of cancer genomics data and biomarker development, we are looking for a computational lead with experience in project management, bioinformatics workflow delivery and team leadership. Industry experience is expected but academics with leadership experience will be considered as well.

Previous experience with regulatory compliance and software accreditation would also be valuable. There is flexibility for the exact profile and experience of the applicant, provided they can demonstrate their qualities in the general area of computational biology and motivation to join a young company in the field of cancer genomics in a full time role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of new algorithms, bioinformatics pipelines and tools for cancer diagnostics
  • Act as an interface between lab/commercial teams and software developers to prioritise and organise projects
  • Contribute to quality management of computational biology processes and development of a system that conforms to regulatory standards
  • Provide scientific leadership by managing a team of computational scientists.

Requirements

Education/Qualifications:

  • Expertise in software development, typically but not necessarily in an industry setting and knowledge of the bioinformatics field.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience in constructing and running bioinformatics pipelines for high throughput sequencing datasets (Required)
  • Expertise in Python (required) and knowledge of R programming (Desirable)
  • Experience with the management of a computational team, ideally bioinformatics (Desirable)
  • Established track record in bringing projects to completion on time using project management approaches (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of cancer genomics (Desirable)
  • Prior experience with work in a regulated environment, in particular for software versioning and quality assurance, such as ISO 13485, EN 62304, ISO 15189, or other (Desirable)
