Position

Role Overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Molecular Technologist to join our Clinical Laboratory Team to perform high throughput accessioning and nucleic acid isolation of clinical samples. The role is a full-time laboratory-based position and would suit an individual looking to use their skills in a world-leading diagnostic company. The successful candidate will play a critical role within the Inivata Clinical Laboratory Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and accession human samples following standard operating procedures
  • Complete data entry of sample information on applicable forms and upload information into Inivata’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Execute nucleic acid isolations either manually or with automation as required
  • Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines for handling clinical samples and biohazardous waste
  • Participate in Containment Level 2 training and all other applicable training on an annual basis
  • Manage specimen inventory, including the archival, return or destruction of samples as required
  • Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and perform general laboratory housekeeping activities
  • Liaison with senior clinical team members
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned

HIPAA/GDPR Compliance: Position will

  • Agree to abide by Employment and Confidentiality Agreements and End User Policies
  • Commit to stay up to date on training requirements for HIPAA/GDPR
  • Understand the importance of the proper handling and disposal of ePHI and agrees to follow HIPAA/GDPR Regulations
  • Abide by the requirements for the proper disposal of equipment containing ePHI
  • Agree to report breaches and the improper handling of ePHI to the Company’s Privacy and Security Officers
  • Produce and adhere to proper validation documentation

Requirements

Education/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Biology, Genetics or Biomedical Science with a minimum of 3 years relevant laboratory experience

Skill Requirements:

Essential

  • Experience processing human samples in a Clinical Laboratory setting, including the processing and handling of blood, tissue, FFPE tissue, and other body fluids
  • Prior experience of working in a clinical laboratory in a regulated environment with an established quality management system (e.g. ISO 15189:2012, CPA, GCLP or equivalent)
  • Data entry experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and/or Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Experience of nucleic acid extraction, DNA quantification and digital /q-PCR analysis
  • Knowledge and experience processing samples using automated liquid handling robots
  • Demonstrate efficient execution of lab processes and must have good attention to detail
  • Experience troubleshooting laboratory processes and procedures
  • Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high paced, team-oriented environment

Desirable

  • Hands-on experience performing clinical sample processing in a molecular diagnostic laboratory, in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, NHS or other high-throughput laboratory
  • Knowledge and experience of next-generation DNA sequencing
  • Expertise in laboratory automation of molecular biology workflows
  • Ability to work irregular hours when required
