Position

The Database Engineer develops and maintains data platforms delivering business value in the Inenco product suite.

The post holder is a key member of the Business Intelligence function within the technology department. They are responsible for contributing towards the realisation of the department’s engineering strategic direction.

The post holder has the responsibility for implementing databases and associated technologies within the Business Intelligence function.

They are responsible for the data engineering output from themselves and, when appropriate, other engineers under their supervision.

The post holder will be expected to work with some supervision and will have the authority for a medium degree of latitude in decision making. They will be expected to make decisions within the scope of their role and will be held accountable for the outcomes of these.

They will use their understanding of development principles, patterns, practices and processes in the day-to-day tactical execution of their duty. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement code changes to Inenco’s data systems (e.g. Inenco’s data warehouse, data platforms and reporting capabilities)
  • Deliver all work tasks to agreed deadlines
  • Develop unit tests
  • Support Show & Tell activities
  • Prepare systems for deployment
  • Develop automated functional tests
  • Provide regular and targeted communication to management
  • Providing clear ownership and resolution of data issues
  • Cultivate strategic and collaborative internal relationships with key stakeholders and influences
  • Keeping up to date with technical and industry developments

Other information

  • At least 3-5 year DBA experience within a commercial environment
  • Solid expertise in the following data technologies and tools (or comparable alternatives) including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, SSIS, PowerBI, Qlik View, ETL, AWS
  • Experience of data modelling at all levels
  • Experience of strategy definition, leadership and implementation
  • Understanding of security and implications for our customers, systems and services, awareness of best practice and changing requirements combined with a sensitivity to confidentiality (ISO27001 and PCI-DSS) and also ISO9001
  • Able to effectively communicate at all levels and an ability to coach and mentor
  • Able to suggest changes across the organisation to improve performance
  • Be alert to emerging trends and issues which may impact or benefit performance
  • Enthusiastic, driven, self-motivated with a focus on pragmatic delivery
  • Committed to the development of all team members and continuous development of capability within the department
