Position

We've recognised that to truly innovate in the bids & proposals space we need to re-think the process and our go-to-market strategy. Over the last few months we've been working alongside a specialist bid consultancy to help us understand the art of the possible from a bid perspective.

We know that bid and tender processes are competitive. It's a really busy industry too, so there's some additional challenges there. However, we've also got this opportunities to connect our prospects and clients in a deeper and more meaningful way by working harder to truly understand their needs.

We're looking to hire a bids specialist who can support all of this activity.

Requirements

This role wouldn't work for every Bid Manager out there.

You're the type of person who enjoys thinking strategically, but we really need you to be able to execute too. That's not easy, especially during a period of transformation.

The second element of this is around leadership. It's really important to us that the successful Bid & Proposal Manager shares a passion for people development.

  • To manage the bid qualification (bid go / no go) process for new opportunities.
  • Responsible for the timely planning, management and completion of allocated selection questionnaires and tender submissions through the various stages of the procurement process
  • The introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes.
  • Manage the inputs from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial and legal
  • Evolve the culture of Bid Management to adopt a successful and outcome focussed approach
  • Preparing and reviewing the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer
  • Competitive Tendering process culturally embedded in the relevant area of the organisation.
  • Management of the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation (such as preparation of a management summary)
  • Build internal and external relationships with individuals in order to create quality bids
  • Maintain a high level of market intelligence, legislative requirements and best practice in order to create winning bids
  • Implementation of successful bid strategies based on the client’s requirements.
  • Creation of a relevant and customer outcome centric Content Library.
  • Ongoing partnering culture with key stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Service, Finance, SMEs, external suppliers etc.)
  • Ensure compliance to Bid Plans within the local and extended (SMEs) Bid Team.
  • Support continuous improvement through the sales and wider organisation through obtaining and presenting impartial feedback from clients.
  • Establishing the risks, exclusions & assumptions register and establishing a lesson learnt register
  • This role is a Grade 8 and for the right candidate we are offering up to and including £54,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
