Stellenbeschreibung

Purpose

We are growing our translational science capabilities and have 3 positions open, focused on biomarkers, organoids and target identification and validation, and Immunology, respectively. We are seeking highly motivated and experienced individuals with the Biomarker and Organoid roles at SS2 or Principal Scientist level (depending on experience), and the Immunology role at PhD / experienced graduate Scientist level.

The creation of these positions reflects our commitment to developing cutting edge translational science strategies to support our core therapeutic areas of gastro-intestinal, immunology & immunology-oncology, and, CNS.

The Translational Science team support all drug discovery phases to provide a better understanding of the molecular drivers of efficacy, safety, pharmacokinetics, and guiding identification of biomarkers of target/mechanism response. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate with other scientists in the group, as well as with other members within the Discovery and Development organisations, scientists from external contract research organisations (CROs) and academic or industrial partners.

Position

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Biomarker Lead to join our Translational sciences group to support programs in the Gastrointestinal, Immunology and/or CNS therapeutic areas.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across diverse functional groups within Sosei Heptares and with external collaborations. Working within research project teams, your primary responsibility will be to shape and lead translational plans for Discovery programs.

Anforderungsprofil

You will demonstrate a strong understanding of the use of biomarkers in drug development and how these could be linked through to early clinical POM strategies to confirm target engagement and pharmacodynamics. We are looking for innovative approaches in translational research to discover and validate pathways and novel biomarkers associated with mechanism of action and drug response.

  • PhD in a related field or a BSc with a minimum of 5 years industry experience in Translational research
  • Scientific background in gastrointestinal biology and/or immunology desirable
  • Demonstrable experience of assay development, qualification and validation in biomarker and/or bioanalytical area
  • Practical understanding of assay platforms to support biomarker discovery and development (e.g. Immunoassays / transcriptomics / proteomics / metabonomic)
  • Experience in interacting and managing studies with external organisations (CROs, academic groups) highly desirable
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working collaboratively with others and building working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide-ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
  • Ability to plan and prioritise own work in-order to meet deadlines, including using initiative to plan research programmes
  • Experience of carrying out both independent and collaborative research
