Position

Volunteer Role: Administration Volunteer (First Steps Team)

Volunteer Manager: Simon Merrills

Location: Old Trafford


This is a key position supporting the work of our Frist Steps Team in Henshaws main office Washbrook House in Old Trafford.


The role (may) include:

-Answering the phone, taking messages and relaying onto the appropriate team.

-Conducting telephone calls and recording information discussed on the database.

-Printing and sorting outgoing and incoming mail.

-Dealing with incoming emails and referral forms.

-Making referrals to the wider Henshaws serivices

-Making referrals to outside organisations.

-Conducting phone based feedback surveys.


Commitment: Weekly 4 - 10 hours


This role is unpaid, however you will receive reasonable expenses




Requirements

Volunteer profile:

·Organised.

·Experience and knowledge of Microsoft office including word and excel.

·Confident telephone manner.

·A flexible and positive approach.

·Adaptability to the role’s requirements.

·Personable when speaking with members of the public, staff, and other volunteers.

·Understanding of and empathy with visually impaired people.



Support you will receive from Henshaws, and your involvement in our organisation includes:

·Regular contact with the manager responsible for the area with which you will volunteer.

·You will gain valuable experience and understanding of the services Henshaws offers.

·You will be part of the work of a highly regarded UK charity.

·We will reimburse reasonable expenses.

· Full training and supervision will be given as appropriate for the volunteering role.

  • Volunteers are invited to attend Henshaws events which include other areas of our work.

·We ask all our volunteers to follow Henshaws policies and procedures.

·We will need you to complete documentation relating to the role.
